Riddle Me This: CIC takes 30-45 Minutes to Boot?

Hello everyone

2009 e92 w/ CIC from factory, though I'm on my second CIC unit after my original went TU (programmed by dealership).

After about 2-3 months after the new CIC, it started booting slower and slower (no sound, no display). Now it takes 30-45 min to boot up, and I get the SOS error until it does. Everything works fine after it boots, leading me to believe it's not any of the components (dealership says its the TCU and programmed it out, but that didn't fix it).

Funny thing is, if the car is left out in the hot sun (80 degrees or higher), the CIC usually boots straight away... WTF? How does the heat make it work?

I've tried a MOST loop on all components, checked most of the fuses (just by sight though), and removed the CIC to unplug and plug, but no joy.

My next step is to get used CIC unit (my 3rd), but thought someone might have an alternative theory on the culprit (I haven't messed with the HDD yet).

Thank you
