Exclamation 2007 335i AT Slipping error 004F82

Hello guys! Need your input please ~

Last year had my transmission fluid changed after 188,000 km done by very qualified shop
It was working perfectly before, but had frequent slip between 4-3, always on D when I press the accelerator ~60%. Minor slip in 3-4. Slightly rough (jerk) shifts on M on rare occasions. This weekend, it happened so much that a fault was triggered.

EGS 004F82 Ratio monitoring clutch B
frequency 1
logistic counter 40
Odometer 196528 km
Actual Torque 228 Nm
Trans Oil Temp 80 C
Output speed 1824 1/min
Turbine speed 1888 1/min


I decided to reset adaptations AND reset learned values.
Followed the procedure to carefully re-adapt the AT
It's that insane procedure I didn't expect... I mostly focused on the AT part with 9 repeats and only did the 2nd MT part 2 times not 5. Initially had huge slip between 3-4 even causing another fault at first. Then I restarted the process pressing less the accelerator. And every iteration, it improved until perfect.

Now I'm worried about pressing the gas more than 50% or using D. Driving in DS or M seems easier on my ZF Transmission.

Possible Avenues:
1) EGS coding - Would that help? can I find a free map and code it with my laptop and INPA or ISPA?
2) Cooling: seems ok 80C after warmup
3) fluid level: no leaks, inspected a week ago, 8L of fluid changed 10k km ago, he did a preventive change pan, filter, gasket and drain plug
4) Follow another calibration procedure because I didn't do it properly (must say I converted miles to km by rough estimate. however the EGS adaptation status read 'coded' after I was done although not sure if related)

I hate to say it but check the sealing sleeves that are above the transmission valve body. There are three straight ones plus a double one. The double one on our car cracked and gave us the exact same code.

Bad news is you have to drain the fluid, pull the pan and take off the valve body to get to them. I went ahead and changed the solenoids too while I had everything apart. After that and new fluid and for me a new tranny pan all is well.

Changing the sleeves should also be part of the fluid maintenance, then. And even solenoids if you're already having issues. I'll ask my team (cuz it's always a team effort) and get back to you.


I'm not too upset when it costs less than 600$. Although it will be close... Thanks!

Correct, replacing the seals should be part of the fluid change. A "very qualified" shop should know better.
