Did a trip of 200 miles and the engines idle is horrid. Seems to be consistent when the car has been running for a while. Any ideas?

Vanos? Post a log when engine is idling normally to compare.

did exactly that, just timing cyl 1 (*crk) is going crazy but vanos is perfect

5k miles ago I changed coils and plugs

Thats normal in cyl 1 depending on how crazy but normal.

Did you gap the plugs to 0.22 ? Check for damage aswell ( overly burnt tips, One more than others..)

Gapping to 22 will fix his rough idle ? What logic did we follow there ?

Your A/F ratio oscillations and STFT oscillation suggest air metering issues.

Reset MAF adaptations and lambda..

Get codes

Drive around for about 100 km with adaptions reset. Idle control is based on ltft and those are established after some driving.

You realize that decreasing spark plug gap only helps upper RPM WOT right? You actually want the largest gap for a better idle.

You do realize that If spark plugs are gapped too wide, the ignition spark loses some of its strength as it crosses the spark plug gaps. This can result in engine hesitation and also rough idle. Please tell me you buy your Pre Gapped .32-.34 NGKs and just drop them in lol

Now not saying your wrong there bud because it can be crossed referenced between the two (Vacuum Leak or Plugs/Coils) But..nonetheless dirty fuel injectors, clogged air filters, bad spark plugs, and a variety of exhaust system issues can be it also. So please dont come for me when i make a simple suggestion. He can try it or not.

You do realize that he doesnt have any codes which means there is NO MISFIRES which means this has nothing to do with gap

You are confusing rough idle with misfires during idle.

reset adaptations and it is better but still rough after I've been driving for a while. When I start the car in the morning the idle is perfect until it's hot for a while. thanks haha
