IPhone 2.0.1 out

Heads up. 2.0.1 came out yesterday but I have no idea if it'll impact any issues people have said they've had here such as echos, charging, call list, etc. The only info on itunes just calls it "bug fixes".

I have just done the update. Took 10 min. Mine is not jailbroken and it works fine. Some people are rporting problems with hacked phones.

SMS text, contacts and in general the phone is faster. May be just because it just did a fresh reboot ater the update? I will have to try it in the car for the echo. BTW imho the echo is not that bad. Of course I was comparing it to our Samsung SGH T-809s which were horrible in both cars. Now we can actually use our handsfree.

anybody test to see if it fixes the problems people have been reporting with their cars? I am traveling this week so I cant test yet. Only problem I am having so far is having to unlock my phone before the car will recognise it and allow me to play music off of it.

even before the update turning up the blurtooth volume fixed my echo....turn the volume down on the car and during a call turn the volume up on the phone and you should see bluetooth volume go up on the phone screen. That got rid of all my echo issues and people say they hear e clearer. I havent tried with the update yet but i could get my songs to show up on my nav via 6FL

Make a new topic about that asking for people with that phone to help. People who are reading this probably won't know, and people who know probably won't be reading this.

Anyway, I updated this morning, but haven't talked using the car before. I'll have to give it a try later.

Address book is still not synching with the car. Names are still backwards. Voice dialing still backwards.

People with other cars (Chrysler, Saab, etc) on the Apple forums are reporting no bluetooth fixes on their end either.

The iPhone doesn't have voice dialing, but the BMW premium package does.

The premium package includes voice recognition. Since it has access to your iPhone address book (if things were working right) it is able to match the name you speak to the address book entry, extract the phone number, then have your phone make the call.

Before iPhone 2.0 mine worked by saying "Call Bob Marley". iPhone 2.0 has everything backwards (a bug, I think) so I have to say "Call Marley Bob".

Ofcourse, it only works with the names I had in my original pre-2.0 iPhone because it's not synching and downloading the new items off my phone...

I heard that it does not work quite that easily with the iPhone. Don't you have to record "voice tags" for each contact on the BMW system after you import the address book for it to dial by name since the iPhone doesn't have voice recognition?
The videos I saw show instructions to record voice tags.
Other phones have built-in voice command that be accessed over bluetooth.

No, no voice tags required. Hit the steering wheel button and say "call Mom" and it calls Mom.
