Which brand clay and hand polish is good? There is a griot's near my house and I was going to pick up some clay and hand polish tomorrow, just wanted to post here to see if others recommended Meguiars/ etc etc..

I'm not sure hand polish is worth the effort. You might want to just stick with glazes until you get a machine.
As for the Griot's clay... they seem to target a different market than you get around here. Haven't heard much about it good or bad. |

Glaze? What brand is good? Do you use it just like a wax/polish? Griot's started in Washington and my local dealer seams to use it (they sell it at their parts).. A sales associate for Griot's demo'ed some clay action on my car and it felt pretty smooth.. I dono what other brands are good for clays... Something I can buy locally don't really want to wait for shipping as I plan to detail my car this weekend.

get a machine and you can polish the car. i think meguiar has a hand polish but i've never tried that. i use pinnacle finishing glaze or meguiar deep system polish. if i wanna polish my new car i use pinnacle xmt 360 with a machine that corrects/cleans/seals. for otc clay, i use meguiar smooth surface clay kit.

In the meantime, I'd recommend doing a clay and seal without polishing. Your car will feel smooth as glass and look great. I don't know anything about Griots clay, but Griots products are generally good and there's only a couple of mfgrs for clay, anyway (it's all rebranded). EDIT: Make sure you use a fine grade clay and LOTS of lube and a light touch (think gliding a hockey puck on the ice). Otherwise, you could potentially put lots of little scratches on your car which would make you need a polish, even if you don't need one now!

So Griot's is fine, My friend uses it on his VW jetta and looks very good. Mind you I always use Clay-magic and now just trying out Uber clay. For me I don't want to drive to Tacoma to get Griot's stuff. Have fun detailing. |

The only one I've tried is Chemical Guys, and that only on interior wood trims. I usually try to fix paint swirls with a polisher instead of filling them with glaze. Your best bet is to go with the same brand as the wax/sealant you're topping it with. They're likely to have been tested (if not formulated) for use in combination. |
