Got new fuel pump in one day!?

Well my car went into limp mode AGAIN last thursday and I took it into the dealership while it was in limp mode. I call them today and they said they ordered a fuel pump Friday and it came in today.

I thought they were on back order??

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Lance

I had mine replaced last week...

I had mine replaced last week, I do not have the part number, but in addition to putting 29.2 on my car the pump part said it was a Remanufactured unit??

It does make me worry they are still installing the "old" part number. I asked about it and was contacted by a BMW North America Rep... She said the fuel pump problem was "taken care of" months ago. I told her about the multitude of people I have heard about with recent failures and she said she knew nothing about recent fuel pump issues... This makes me feel this is still a bandaid fix until they figure out what they are going to do. I am sure they want to avoid a recall and they are likely trying everything short of replacing everyone's pumps...

My impression was the 3rd revision was being allocated to 2009 production unless a car was completely dead and they special ordered it.

my pump was replaced 2 weeks ago, not sure if it's the new or remfg one, but this morning my car is back in the shop due to the half engine icon i received for over 15x over the weekend. good luck with your remfg pump, cuz i've read that this pump could fail as well.

Its funny you say that cause I went to pick up my car this evening with the new fuel pump and I got to the edge of the parking lot and car went into limp mode again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you get a new pump that quick, its most likely a remanufactored pump, that could die again at any moment. fun fun...

if it's a remfg pump, it would say it on the paperwork.

called my SA before, he said they still couldn't figure out what the problem is. i asked him if the tech found any faulty codes, he said no, but that's impossible, cuz i've had the engine malfunction icon for over 15x in the past 3 days. he was then speechless, and so am i.

They've been in stock for months and months now.
Most who've needed a new fuel pump still get it done the same day or as the OP said have it ordered and it arrives the next day.

Most of the early failed fuel pump issues last year have been replaced and the problems seem to be drastically reduced since 4/07 on built cars.
