To those Autos with Dinan Stage 2 Rev2...
I have asked this question in the past when I was stock but now that I have Stage 2 I would like to repost as a sanity check...
I had my torque converter replaced days after purchasing the car and therefore have no sense of reference. Not that I'm trying to create smokey burnout to showoff but from a technical standpoint (and to check that everything was done correctly with my torque converter), should those with Dinan Stage 2 be able to produce tire spin from a dead stop without power breaking? In other words, if you are stopped, in D1, and floor it, with or without DSC, does your car spin the tires from a stop? (Note: While my tires don't spin from a dead stop, they do at about 3.5K after getting the Dinan tune.) Any help would be much appreciated. |

Depends a lot on tires you have.
My winters spun more than than my summers with the DTC (one quick jab at the DSC button). With DSC left on, I get power cut as soon as the dsc light starts to flash, so much so, I just get a smooth relentless acceleration. I think you are fine.

Thanks, I guess my question is then, does the dsc light flash as soon as you hit the gas or does it not come on until past 3K rpms?

I finally got my Dinan tune and I can get wheelspin all day long in the first 3 gears. I have a manual though.

Well, I gave a review but it was brief. I am still breaking in the car a little.

Go DTC off and crank the wheel left or right all the way nail it!
You'll have a burnout all day long with DTC off on stock tires with steptronic in manual mode or DS. You can do a nice donut by cranking it right or left and flooring it. Waste of $$$ and damn expensive tires, so I did donut like twice for kicks, but have not done much wheel spinning so I don't know your answer. I just lift off as soon it starts spinning. No desire to burn well earned $$$. Maybe others can help out.

If I floor it off the line, in a straight line, without power breaking, my car will not spin the tires until about 3.5K rpm. Is that normal? |

What about off the line though - your car spin them directly from idle if you mash on it without using the brake to rev up? |

Rest easy man, your converter is fine. The reason it wont spin directly is the converter doesn't start out locked and only locks later. Its not like a manual, it will allow some slip initially and absorb that eneregy that shocks the driveline in manuals. Its better for for car anyway.

There isn't enough torque at low RPM's to break the tires loose on dry pavement. Only after boost and torque (and RPMs) builds, will you be able to break traction.

I have no problem breaking the tires loose on dry pavement with the traction control on. But, my car is red so it's faster.

No, they don't spin until the top of first. I don't think my run flats spun off the line either.
