Nav/TV IDrive version

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
I have the NavTV for IDrive unit new in box, never installed. I bought it new from longtran during a GB for around 480.00 I think. New low price 370.00 local pickup, 385 paypaled, shipped with insurance.

By the way, you will notice it says e60 in the pics. Thats because it is the same unit and anyone who bought this can tell you theirs says that as well but it is also for e90 and e92 with IDrive.

Thanks

I've been looking for something like this for a while .. I didn't even know they sold something like this ... can you post a picture and maybe some spec (link) .... I'm really interested in this ...

Is there anything else that need to be purchased or is it just plug and play?

I'll post up some pics later. There are quite a few folks who have done this. It comes with detailed directions but it is recommended you have it done at a professional shop since you have to take your dash apart somewhat I think. You need a single din DVD player that you place in your glovebox and a TV tuner and antenna if you want to watch TV. The unit allows you to switch between Navi and the entertainment option of your choice or backup camera, etc through your IDrive menu. You can also easily wire it so that you can have headrest screens for the rear passengers to view.

Here's the original DIY. The original units didn't have IDrive capability but this one does.

How do you select through the Idrive? Does it have component in or composite?

the cables are composite and you press and hold the menu button on the idrive to switch thru the video sequence. the instructions arent really that detailed that came with my unit. i have also installed other units and the instructions were bad also. the diy is a pretty good layout as to how to install the mod. you just need to take your time and read it through.

to the OP.... how long ago did you purchase this item. i know that these only have a 1 year warranty and was just curious.

Better to let a auto electronics shop do the install if you ask me unless you feel comfortable with the steps in the DIY above.

No wire cutting I dont think (but I never installed it, just bought it and put it on my shelf for decoration for the last year)

The DIY is pretty detailed so you can look at that to determine the degree of difficulty but I know it is completely reversible if you want to remove it from a lease, etc.

Reportedly very good. There are several members with this setup (the high-rolling ballers) so maybe they can comment but from what everyone says, the resolution on the screen is very good and if you are adding rear monitors the resolution will be determined by the quality of the screens you buy.

Bump. This will work great to run a backup camera but you need to purchase the camera seperately.
