Rearview mirror attachment position e90
I purchased a 2006 330i and the rearview mirror was hanging with duct tape.
I've since removed the ductape, adhesive and remains of the adhesive that was attached to the windshield where the metal piece was bonded to before it fell off. I put the rearview mirror in a vice, twisted it and got the little metal piece off but now I'm confused as to which side of the metal piece should be mounted up. The small metal piece looks like a little superman shield with six sides and there is no clear indication as to which side is up or down. All of the videos I've seen show how to remove or attach the rearview mirror but neglect this detail. Does anyone know the position to glue this piece to the windshield? |

The mirror button is a pentagon. The position should have a flat parallel to the dashboard cover (i.e. parallel to the ground. You need to use a two-part windshield mirror adhesive. Prematex makes a good product. The type that wipes the glass with catalyst doesn't work well.
Hopefully you marked the windshield where the button attaches. |
