KW V2- Cant Raise Rear end?! Please Help!
Hey Guys, Ive been searching for about 2 weeks, on all kinds of forums, calling KW, reading manuals etc, but I have not found a solution for my problem.
I am trying to raise the rear of the car: When I twist the purple piece with the wrench, the black threaded piece in the center, spins along with the purple piece- is it supposed to do that? Because I was turning it for days, and it made zero difference in the ride height. ALSO: I removed all the trunk lining to get to the top of the shock, to stiffen up the ride (it is bottoming out all the time) but I did not see the part that the allen wrench fits into like the fronts do. Am I blind? I know I am a moron when it comes to coilovers since I am new to the game, so please forgive the childish terms I am using ![]() (NOTE: KW told me over the phone, that all I simply do to raise the rear, is turn the purple piece with the wrench....obviously did not work....I am worried now that since the entire thing was spining, that it may have loosened components that should not have been turning) |

There is a hex adjust on top of the rear shock just like the front, same size.
Make sure your using a metric allen wrench. The black adjuster should not turn, but it does. I bought a used set and the previous owner cut a small notch on the black piece which I suppose was a attempt to hold it while turning the purple collar. If your not up for that you may have to unbolt the control arm to relieve the pressure completly. Re-adjust and re-install. I've considered placing a thrust bearing between the spring and the seat to aid in adjusting this. |

Its a real PITA... you have to hold it still by using something like a strap wrench. I found if I can keep the spring from turning, I can turn the nut and raise/lower the rear.

great info guys! I looked again on the top of the rear strut (the only part you can see after removing the trunk liner and rubber cover) and there is for sure, NO hex adjustment. 100% sure on this. It looks like I have to use a wrench instead to turn it, but that doesnt make sense to me

4ft thick flat head screwdriver? You mean like a tire iron? I'll have to try that next time...

It sounds to me like having coilovers is much more of a PITA than I imagined.

I took apart my trunk lining 3 times, pulled off the black rubber cover, and went to insert the allen wrench to find that on top of the strut, does NOT have a hex adjustment?? I took my trunk apart 3 times because I thought I was on crack, but there is absolutely no hex adjustment on the top of the strut. I have to take a wrench to turn the thing, but that does not seem correct.

oh wow! I figured it out- I purchased these KW's from a friend of mine, and we took our cars down to a shop, to swap his KW's onto my car, and my stock suspension onto his car. Little did I know until 5 minutes ago-that they forgot to switch over the shocks!!
Anyways I am heading down there now to fix it ![]() |

Are you saying that yours doesn't have a hex wrench slot either?
