DIY - E92 Boot / Trunk lid not always shutting properly Quick Fix

If like me you often find that your boot/trunk lid doesn't always shut properly first time or you have to slam it to get the catch to lock, then here is a quick fix.

This only takes a few minutes and is very simply to do.

You will need:

Your car.
Fingernail/flat head screw driver or similar
T30 (star) screw driver (although the correct sized flatheaded may work)

Step 1

Locate the plastic cover directly below the catch on the boot/trunk lid.

Step 2

Remove the cover with your fingernail etc.

Step 3

Loosen the 3 screws, they only need 1 full turn, you don't have to take them out. You will need a T30 screwdriver or bit as shown.

Step 4

Slide the catch all the way to the top. You should have about 8mm of movement. I found that sliding it all the way to the top worked best for me, you may need to try different positions,

Step 4

Tighten screws back up

Step 5

Replace plastic cap. Job Done!
