Anyone here married to your childhood or high school sweetheart?

My wife and I met in high school (different schools) and married in our early 20s. We've been together ever since, 2 kids and 6 grand kids later.

Anyone else marry young and in it for the long haul?

That's awesome! Congrats! I love to hear marriage success stories. It amazes me when I see older couples together, in public, and still holding hands or being sweet to each other.

My first wife I met when I was in high school, but we were not high school sweethearts. The second wife, I met in high school, but was too shy/awkward then to pursue her. Twelve years later, I got what I wanted. The following year, she and everyone she slept with behind my back got what they wanted. Current girlfriend, secretly I wanted to bed 20 years ago. She was friends with the first wife and that's how we met. I've somehow managed to snag everyone that has caught my eye.

That being said, relationships are hard, and even more difficult in this day and age. I truly admire any couple who are able to stay together and make it work. I applaud you and the wife.

Yup! married my highschool crush, divorced in 2003. She did a 180 in life as she de-matured into the her 20's and became a total psycho.

Good riddance!

Happy for those of you who found your soulmate and life partner! Wishing you happy through all your years, together and forever.

I remember being devastated when me and my highschool girlfriend ended on an ugly note and wished I could win her back for years afterwards...

... but in hindsight, I definitely dodged a bullet since we didn't end up together because the person I am now knows that my younger self had no idea what was actually good for me, lol. I would either be miserable or not as successful in adulthood if who she turned out to be would still be in my life.

Let me just say that variety is the spice of life.

(Not that my life has been very "spicy" the past 20 years or so. )

Was once at beginning of the 20s, hadnt last, we were both much too young and personal developement had drifted us more apart than expected. Too much china broken those days and no chance to stay as friends.

The first one who broke my heart - we even made up our own word to replace love. After HS, I would come back on weekends and simply waste both our time, when it was clearly obvious she wanted nothing to do with me. At a 30y reunion, SHE approached me. I was so embarrassed, apologizing for what I did. She said she was actually touched that I wouldn't let her go. I still sometimes see her in dreams.

Next up, someone I knew in HS, always found her attractive, was jealous of her BF. We hooked up at a bar a few years later, and then she became my first wife. Within 8 months she was pregnant with someone else's child. . .

Current wife, going on 22+ years together. Went to HS with her brother, had no idea who he was.

Oxnard is small.

I think she was getting desperate being single and called to see what i was up to, too bad for her im super happily married with 3 kids and a loving wife.

If anyone is looking for a psycho, she's available lol

Thank you! It's been a fun ride but its not without effort on both sides. We have been lucky enough to grow together. I totally get that it sometimes cannot work out that way.

We were just looking at photos of us as teenagers. It's amazing we've "lasted" so long. All I can say is for us, its been a good thing.

I know I missed out on the craziness of dating as an adult, but oh well.

I was my wife's "high school sweatheart." Love at first sight type situation. Over 15 years later, still going strong. I feel incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful woman who has remained comitted. Full of up and downs but I think we both feel stronger together with each day that passes. Also, we have 2 lovely kiddos now and just celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary last weekend.

My first wife and I were in the kindergarten, then 10 years in school and 5 at the university before we got married. It lasted 3 years, 5 months and 3 days.
The divorce judge asked us how long we had known each other... and when got 23 years as an answer, just sealed the deal.

Met my wife in 1984 when I was 18 and she was 20, we got married in 1986 and we just celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary this past June. We've had our ups and downs thru out the years like just about every couple, but nothing that really would make us separate. I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world

Back in my single days I remember a knockout redhead that frequented the same club I did. I was warned by several of her past acquaintances to steer clear. She was apparently just a bit on the psycho side.

We met when we were both 19. Got married at 20. Been married 46 years now. Have had our ups and downs, like mentioned above, but we're still together and still going strong.

I've been retired for a few years now and she's recently retired so we're entering a new phase of life. We've survived a lot and I'm sure we'll make it through this as well.

Yeah, you don't have to marry her, just spend the night with her.

Unless, of course, she's in to boiling pet rabbits and other small animals.
