Electronics Failure Help
Hey guys its been a long time.
My 335d is approaching 200k miles and the electronics are getting wonky. I just had to replace the wheel well TPMS module which disabled my cluster for a bit and the car ran fine until today. At the current I get a transmission error, fuel pump error, and cluster failure all while the windshield wiper is stuck in the on position. Just got back from a 300 mile trip. No problem and now this. I would like a second opinion to point to it to possibly the Junction Box. My vin is WBAPN7C59BA949153

That is currently what I am trying to figure out. The OBD works I just cant seem to access the ECU to read any codes. So far the fuses look okay.
I am trying to see if its the junction box electronics module. So far all the fuses look okay, car has power, I cant read codes. Will update. |

This is going to seem VERY random but….. check your positive battery terminal. I have been chasing a crazy electrical gremlin for about 8 months now, thinking it may be a faulty voltage regulator or possible my junction box, turns out after almost 280+ Thousand KM my battery terminal loosened up… now it is tightened back up, electrical gremlins have been evicted. Check the simple things first then look into the difficult tasks.
By the way, it wasn’t throwing any codes..

You maybe right.
Well at the current nothing can make a connection to the car. Ive tried many scanners and tools going to try bav tech laying around to see if I cant prime the LPFP. So im curious as to what possibly blew up. Fuses so far look good. I swapped the Junction Box Module with a different one and got the same problem. I might check the ECU relays and fuse first then power distribution panel next. I cant seem to read any codes so I am going a little blind. The last plausible failures were the ABS was acting up and kicked me out if cruise control. I drove fine and parked the car. The next day this happens, all brake errors on dash, transmission P position error and fuel pump error and currently cant crank the car. Windshield wipers move on their own and I cant stop them. Well til next weekend then. Edit: Bav tech cannot connect either to HUD, GWS(Gear Lever) EPS(power steering) ACC(Cruise Control), DDE(ECU), DSC or EKP(FP) Radio gateway OK! At least i can cry with music TCU reads A8F9 RLS(Rain light) -A669 -A66E Heat and Air -E704 -E717 -E71A -E71C -E72F FRM reading -Can-Low E584 -E594 -E59C KOM reading -A3B9 -A54D -A550 -A3C3 -A3AA -A3AD -E104 CAS reading -A0B0 -A0BD -D904 -A0B5 CID reading -E5C4 CON reading -E2C4 -E2D4 General gist is either somthing is short or casper is haunting the CAN lines. No crank still, ECU fuses okay Last edited by Nushibo; 12-05-2021 at 08:16 PM.. |

My guesses are the battery distributor popped a fuse and its still the original one after 10 years. So thats next on the list, my logic is i swapped the main relays inside the glove box and fuses and they click. That leads me to the next set and that is the ECU isnt getting any juice so ill clear the back end of the line before working forward. Guess some experience with electronics helps lol. The car was running decently fine until it wasnt so it leads me to believe its not a mechanical fault. No response from EKP and DDE leads me to believe no power or bad DDE overall. Hoping for the first part. Would anyone happen to know what part is for the ECU relay? Last edited by Nushibo; 12-07-2021 at 02:16 PM.. |
