Ok, installation of the lights took about 45 minutes after I read the cool DIY on this site, pretty straight forward as a direct replacement.

Love the look myself. I really need to get myself a set too - they just compliment the car so nicely...

Hey, nice one Sifu Lux. They do look more sporty! Look even better with the M sport bumpers. I am in process of sourcing a set from a totalled 330i. Then just need to re-spray

Bru, I'm not sur I get the whole Black line story..., the only difference I can see is that the white line is now black? Are there other differences?

Yup Mike, just detailed my car on the holiday day, will post dem sound install pics soon! I'm still torn whether to install over the wheel arch, or through the ski hatch like yours!

The difference is that the entire orange indicator housing is now clear with orange light, and the back of the reverse light housing it black, giving a crystal light appearance to the tail. I will see if I can park next to normal E90 and snap a pic to show the difference.

After the festive season, I decided to spoil myself and buy me some blacklines for my beemer. I called Wednesday last week for stock availability and pricing and was told that stock existed in Jo'burg at a price of R1691 incl VAT.

But as I was going away for the rest of the week, I waited until today to place my order and to my shock and horror was told that the price had gone up to R4160 incl VAT; that's an increase of over 145% Surely this must be a typo

Can anyone in South Africa confirm this please?

Nope, just called BMW in Cape Town. Still same price R1691. Did you use the right part number?

Hi Menno11

Yes, the product number was correct (i.e ended in 788 I think). The parts salesman checked all the latest invoices for this part number and it was sold on 08/12/2008 for R1691, but is now more than R4000

I just called Forsdicks Tygervalley and Auto Atlantic and they both gave me a price of R4196 incl VAT for part number 63210406678 (Black line tail lights for 2006 E90 325i)

As I said, I've called Forsdiscks Tygervalley, Auric Auto Claremont and Auto Atlantic Cape Town; all gave me the same part number with the same price of R4196. I understand that all the systems are linked so I can understand the price similarities. Are you guys sure YOU have the correct part number. I've even logged a call with BMW Customer Call Centre regaring this issue. Waiting for feedback.

That is not good news Keith, I'm sorry to hear!! Maybe you should hear if one of the US suppliers can give you a quote on a pair imported from USA, or maybe UK? see if they can get you a better price. Its the same as the audio equipment coming in now, its way more expensive due to the crappy exchange rate!

The part number is: 63 21 0 406 678 Tail light retro fit kit.

Good luck!!

I'm absolutely, positively sure.. coz i bought a set for a customer.

I know prices are adjusted monthly, but there's no way it jumped that much since November.

The problem is, the parts guys at these dealers don't know what they're looking at (most of the time)

Revo

I walked into Forsdicks Tygervalley and chose the part (with the correct number) on the pricing system myself. If you are from Cape Town, could you get me an official quote for blacklines and give me the details of the dealership and salesperson you spoke to please? Much appreciated.

No problem - When I get back to CTN, i'll go to the dealer.
If they quote me the same price of +- R1700, I'll buy it for you and contact you.

I really don't think it would have increased that much, but will find out soon.

Spoke to my contact at bmw now.
Bad news... They did have a huge increase on these accessories during December.
You missed the R1700 price tag by 2 months dude!

I think it's due to the exchange rate that's been sky rocketting.

If I were you, hold on and wait til the rand gets stronger (whenever that will be), coz BMW adjust their prices monthly.

It will eventually come back down.
