N52 NA cams+ s54 ITBs adapter.

Anyone would be interested by a customs race cams for the N52 engine? Thinking about changing my plans, and would have a cams set and a n52 adapter to runs s54 ITBs. Adapter is new, and the cams are like news. Make 325whp and 8700rpm redline. Send me a private message if possibly interested.

I would like to know how the hydraulic lifters on a n52 can hold up to 8700rpms. You don’t mention any valve springs or parts to address that? And the piston rings and rod bearings are definitely not going to be long lived at those engine speeds I would think because I can’t see oiling in a n52 keeping up with that… but I guess seeing as how you mentioned they are for a race application so you expect to do more frequent engine rebuilds?

Hi!
I purchased them from rmp motors in ontario, I didn’t personnally installed these in my car yet.
Valve spring are set up to avoid valve lift.
I have all the specs. But don’t have a dynograph. Yeah to spin up to 8700 internal are needed, but these provide power higher in the rpm band.

Sorry, but I smell BS.

I'm interested in the S54 ITB adapter, because I have been working on my own for a long time. But nobody is turning an N52 without significant mods to 8700rpm. 8k - maybe, but even that, probably not for long.

Did I said they were running oem internals? I only said it is with these cams they were able to make some good power at higher rpm levels.
If serious about it, I can provide spec sheets, pictures, discussion with Rocco from rmp and all, in pm.

That’s definitely not a plug and play modification, there’s a lot more involved than swapping the oem cams with these to spin up to 8500+rpm

I can't say I could — as much as I want them.
Like you said — super involved. I'd probably opt in for a gnarly VAC head beforehand.

How much are you letting these go for? PM me the cost, if you must. Being such an enigma, I can't imagine they'd be cheap. Miles on them? Out of curiosity.

Worst case — GLWS

GLWS. Seems very cool. Definitely way outside my (nonexistent) budget and willingness to do the required supporting mods.

Why would this be better than an S54 transplant?

S54 should make similar power with ease and probably last longer.

Huh? Sorry I don’t follow. I didn’t say anything about whether this would be better or worse than anything—just that it sounded like a cool mod.

Yep, cool for sure. but would an S54 swap be cooler and cost less?

Haha, I bet it would be, but if these mods are likely out of reach money/effort/skills wise, I could only imagine an S54 would be even less realistic. Would be cool too though…

The s54 is heavier, not cheap, but make that kind of power and more easier. In some race class, being 3.0l keep you away from m3s, same as keeping the oem engine. On top of that, it is more unique. If interested contact me by pm!

Neat...but missing a lot of information. 325whp on a dynapack is more like 295 whp on a dynojet. Maybe even less.

My n54 made 432 whp and 487 wtq on a dynapack when it should have made 400/450 at most on a dynojet as an example.

The problem with unknown cams is they obviously push the graph to the right, meaning more WHP at higher revs. What you could run into is your car is actually slower with these installed as you are running the stock rev limit.

The factory DME can't let the engine rev that high due to logic right? The n54 is limited to 8150. I forget what the n52 is limited to but you would likely need a stand alone $$$.

Ported head, upgraded valvetrain, cams, stand alone EMS + custom tune, built block = you could literally swap almost any other engine in and be better off.

there is a hard coded limit of 8160rpm, but it would be pretty trivial to change that to a much higher value. the limit for the table is 9999, which obviously is way higher than anyone will ever use.

For anyone interested in the ITB adapter plate it looks like Rabid Racing Development (the company that originally created the plate for RMP) is about to sell them as per their IG post here:

As per their announcement we should see them released this weekend (so tonight?). They do a full kit for S54 ITB onto M5x so I wonder if they have something cooking for N52 as a kit.

Im strongly considering this route after revisiting my plans on getting a 335i (won't get into full details why I'm abandoning this).
