Thundernight or Brooklyn Grey
Hi,
I am going to spec a 2023 M240i and I don't know what colour to choose. I'm debating between thundernight and brooklyn grey. If any G42 M240i owners with those colours can help me in making a decision that would be great! Thank you |

Which one do YOU like better? That's the one to get.

Valid. I like both but my dad seems to like Brooklyn Grey more and my mom likes Thundernight. So I don't know what to do. I want to see them in person but the closest dealership is 2 hours away and there are no thundernight or brooklyn grey M240i's at dealership or in my area.

2- Under a cloudy sky, it looks like it's a plum colour. 3- Under direct sunlight all of the flake in the paint REALLY pops out. |

I ordered BG. Looks quite good even when dirty. I would consider thunder night for myself if I lived in a desert or somewhere that didn't have crappy weather or I had all the time and money in the world to have it washed every couple days.

I had the same debate when I ordered mine. I went with BG because I ended up seeing it on a 230i in person and loved it. I also figured it wouldn't show the dirt as much.

Talk about opposite extremes (Grey vs Purple)!
I ordered Thundernight Metallic and after having done so I was wondering if I had lost my mind; if perhaps it would be something that I would not want to live with after the initial excitement of the purchase wore off. It might be too soon to tell, but after seven weeks I’m still thrilled with the color. I don’t care a whole heck of a lot of what other people think, but everyone seems to love it and those that don’t haven’t said a thing. I have to say that 75% of the time, it is a rather understated shade of purple (which isn’t a bad thing) the other 25% of the time— when the light is right— it pops to a beautiful, dazzling shade. That works for me. I also ordered red calipers, which contrast awesomely. |

Thundernight Metallic.
I have Thundernight and absolutely love it. At first, I thought it would be too flashy, but it is actually a very subdued color tone. Also, I past a Brooklyn Grey M240 on the highway yesterday and it is very flat and plain in comparison. Some people prefer that, but the metallic purple looks stunning in person. |

Dark colors show dust, dirt, and water spots. Light colors not so much. I wanted Thundernight but went with Alpine White. I'm also here in Texas. Alpine White looks great with the black trim. Brooklyn Grey was also on the list but I had a silver car and got bored with it very quickly, yes it's grey not silver.

The Thundernight shows scratches like crazy. I got the BG for this reason.

Thundernight will be more work to maintain than Brooklyn. Surely someone will reply "it's not that bad…" but to some degree, the much lighter Brooklyn will always be easier to keep looking it's best.
How much this matters is an individual decision. |

Yes, thundernight does show dirt easily, but it’s easier to maintain than black. If you want a paint that doesn’t show dirt at all, your best bet is mineral white. IMHO, mineral white is a much nicer color than brooklyn grey. Not that there is anything wrong with the flat grey, but the mineral white looks incredible in the sun. I believe they technically call it a metallic, but it shines like a pearlescent.

If you garage your car and wash it every 1-2 weeks, any color will work just fine. So go with the color you like rather than justifying it based on upkeep. |
