320D Re-Mapped at Evolve today.

Hi All

I have had my E92 320D re-mapped at Evolve today, what a pleasant experience. Both Sal and Imran were really friendly and I would recommend them to anyone.

Took about 45 mins to up-load my current map and download the new one then a quick road test to check all was well.

Bought some of the new angel eye bulbs which look a lot better (agreed to buy if they fitted them so that I could see the difference) an easy sale that one.

No rolling road as only covered 1400 miles but promised a run when I have covered 2000 miles.

The results are pretty amazing, it feels like a different car, not only is it vastly quicker but its also a lot smoother and easier to drive especially around town. On the way there I averaged 45.4mpg and on the way back 53.1mpg. This was mainly on motorways at around 80 mph. Local driving foot to the floor to show off the difference and averaged 37mpg.

It really transforms a good car into somthing special, especially with M-Sport.

In summary if you have a 320D and £350 then please dont waste anymore time thinking about a re-map........book your car in at Evolve.

You will definitly not be dissapointed.

very true i have never heard from anyone thats had there remap taken off as they didnt like it, the biggest thing to get your head round is the warrenty, for me its safe as houses, as the cars go into limp mode if they have too much power or theres something wrong, i would say do it, a audi 05 a4 2.5tdi try to leave me today up a hill i stayed with it and could of overtaken him, i dont think he was happy as it was a 320d lol

Out of interest, what BHP do they expect the remap to give?

Also, do you know if they have a website?

Thanks

Their website is www.evolveyourcar.com

Power increases to around 215BHP and an increase of around 30% in torque. Web site has the details

Wow...sounds like a great power upgrade...

Is there enough power? The power does not top out?

Could the car easily cruise at about 80-90mph without the dreaded engine drone?

The reason i ask is because my younger brother has a 1.9TDi A4 with the PD engine. Obviously no comparison. But when he gets it upto around 90mph the car is deafening..

The 320d is remarkably quiet at motorway speeds, all the way into solid three figures. The Evolve map looks very strong all the way through, and replicates the standard curve, just higher up. Should still be strong at 4250-4500rpm, though obviously it is tailing off by this point. I think at 90mph the remapped car will be in its absolute element, with effortless overtaking pace going to about 110-115mph

Compared to standard their is more than enough power, its like having a new larger engine (its not even run in yet) although If I drove a 330D or 335D then I am sure I would want more.

You never hear the engine on a motorway cruise its very quiet, my last car was an A4 1.9TDi and that was very noisy in comparison.

The power delivery is really smooth, in fact the whole driving experience is more refined, sound strange but its a lot easier to drive, more relaxing.

Imran, can you tell me if you "just" change the fuel tables /timing etc, or does the tuning also include changes on controlling this bit of unwanted componentry?

On the motorway averaging 70-80mph then about 52mpg, generallly pottering about then 46mpg, if driven quickly then around 37mpg.

It may improve when its run in but most of my journeys are on the motorway so anything around 50mpg is great.

Hi dxb335d

Just curious, you monitor your transmission oil temps during these sprints? I guess you are loading the engine against the torque convertor before releasing the brakes. Looking at standard peformance curves that implies you put at least some 100kW into it, then followed by shifts under full load. Your oil temp must shoot up in seconds..

Carlos - if you have a manual don't be amazed if dxb335d just pulls away from you. When he releases his brake his large turbo is already at nearly full speed, his smaller turbo has already been bypassed.. And your turbo (and mine) is basically at standstill before releasing the clutch - have fun though,
