Weird sound in front left wheel well on e92 335i x drive
Hi, Ive had a weird sound coming from somewhere in the front left wheel well on my e92 335i x drive for more than a year now. Here's the details:
- Dont know how to describe the sound since its very weird but the best way I can put it is its like a metal marble clunking/rumbling around inside something. Its a pretty low sound, radio has to be off to hear it. Its inconsistent, I always only hear it for a few seconds and it fades away, coming back in intervals of a few seconds to around 1 minute - Only does it while its hot outside (I live in Canada, so it only does it in the summer, never once heard it during winter) and also seemingly while the car itself is hot as it takes a drive of at least 15 minutes, but often more around 30 min for the sound to starts - While going slow (in a straight line and doing left/right circles), my dad was following the car outside and we were both hearing a clicking sound (which was quite different from the other sound, maybe just because this is at very slow speed compared to road speed) coming from the same place at what seemed to be every wheel rotation My dad is a home mechanic so he's usualy able to identify and repair problems, but he is kinda baffled on this one as he jacked up the car and remove the wheel to go see in there and found nothing wrong. He also tried replicating the sound, which he couldnt (probably because as I remarked the car needs to be hot for the sound to manifest). If anyone has encountered this problem before or has an idea on what it could be, please let me know. |
