Bilstein B8 with H&R Sport springs!

Shortened high-performance gas pressure shock absorber in mono-tube/inverted technology - specially designed for lowered sport vehicles. It’s a must when sports springs are used
demanding a rebound of 30-40 mm.
(mehr)
The shortened BILSTEIN B 8 high-performance shock is a must when sports springs are used demanding a rebound of 30-40 mm. The shock is also first choice on sports springs used in conjunction with standard length shock absorbers. The spring remains perfectly pre-stressed in all driving situations, and insures optimal driving performance in combination with the BILSTEIN B8 mono-tube/inverted technology. Quick lane changing at high speed, neutral vehicle balance and full traction … The BILSTEIN B8 makes driving fun!

Product advantages at a glance:

• BILSTEIN mono-tube/inverted technology
• Shortened rebound length
• BILSTEIN “comfort & sport” setting
• BILSTEIN road tested and tuned
• High performance reserves
• No TÜV registration necessary

Gas pressure technology

All BILSTEIN suspension systems utilise powerful specialised gas pressure technology to prevent aeration of the oil column within the shock absorber. The consistent, full damping action guarantees high traction and dynamic handling, even in situations of extreme use.
It is a must-have for sports suspension kits.

Monotube teknologi

BILSTEIN’s high performance monotube gas pressure shock absorbers are installed as standard equipment in both motor sports vehicles and production sports cars. The superior handling that the BILSTEIN system provides speaks for itself.
The monotube design allows heat in the shock absorber to dissipate quickly and efficiently. The large digressive working piston gives a perfect setting and keeps flow pressures low. BILSTEIN’s revolutionary gas pressure system uses a separate chamber of nitrogen gas to compress the hydraulic fluid, preventing cavitations.

The damping forces defined by BILSTEIN’s engineers are not diminished by cavitation or heat, therefore providing consistent, fade-free comfortable performance in all driving conditions.

Road testet and tuned

You have to expect more than just high quality from BILSTEIN’s suspension components. BILSTEIN’s engineers develop suspension systems for sheer driving enjoyment using superior technology and high performance components.
The typical BILSTEIN suspension setting – comfort & sport – is established during elaborate road tests together with one of the greatest race drivers ever, the Rally legend Walter Röhrl. At the Mercedes-Benz test track "Papenburg", as well as at the legendary "Nürburgring-Nordschleife", the world’s longest and toughest race track, BILSTEIN suspension kits are designed and tested to the limit.

The suspension kit is subjected to high speed and rapid lane changes during its test phase, to measure for handling, car balance, traction, and driver comfort. Only after every aspect has successfully met the high BILSTEIN requirements is the suspension kit ready for production and placed on the market. A perfectly designed BILSTEIN suspension system provides driving enjoyment and safety, especially under extreme driving conditions.

after checking out Bilstein's website, noticed that for an 08 xi coupe, they did not recommend a product/shock. since ive swapped out stock springs for the H&R's, i would think i could fit the Bil. B8's - thanks again - great info.

If the Bilstiens will fit, Id go with that. Ive had H&R sports with koni yellows and would not recommend that setup. On an E46 I had H&R Sports with Bilstein sports and it was an incredible car.

On the lower settings they didnt not control the body very well at all, and at higher setting which controlled the body better, the ride was like a brick.

Oh, and while the thought of them being adjustable is appealing, the rears have to be removed from the car to be adjusted which is a MAJOR pain in the ass.

Thats the only big difference is the adjustability of the rear koni shocks...they have to be taken off, while bilsteins can be adjusted underneath with a adjusting knob/screw...much much easier for sure...when my rears eventually go whenever that will be, I will switch to bilsteins adjustables for sure!

Bilsteins are a solid setup but I would also look at the Koni Sports or Koni FSDs. The FSDs are nice because they are dual adjustable and automatically stiffen under cornering.

jeez im jealous man - i own an xi and koni and bilstein are both tellin me they dont yet have a shock setup that will bolt up to an 08 xi underside....
due out in spring they say.... my ride is a lil bumpy right now
good to hear that you are satisfied with this your setup - prior to the koni's,
how was the ride on the springs with stock shocks?
