Repining Voltage regulator

So i have been working on my car the last month or so just doing general maintenances, and i went to replace the voltage regulator because i was getting weird codes for things all on the bsd(i think that's what that bus wire is part of). There is a violet wire that connects to the voltage regulator and the wire is kinda mangled in some spots, so i was trying to find a way to remove the connector and either remove the bad spots and shorten the wire a bit or solder a new patch of wire. Then i was going to repin the wire.

That is the connector but i was just wondering if anyone has done one before or something similar before i mess up the connector and have to buy a new one.
