N54 vacuum line diameter and waste gate functionality question
Hey all, want to get some clarification on my thought process here.
So, in a prior post of mine I snapped a vac line, did some halfass rig, then replaced it with a 1/8" soft vacuum line, which I assumed was 3.5mm (was wondering why it was so damn hard to get on). Car drives pretty good now, but I still hear wastegates randomly open while driving (exhaust tone change, a little louder as well), and then drives fine. Last night I gave 'er some throttle and threw an OVERBOOST 30FE code, which I have never had happen before. So apparently 1/8" is like... 3.18mm, and that goes directly to a boost canister. Possibility that the smaller diameter is causing a funky issue with the waste gates? I'm redoing all my vacuum lines this week while I'm at my mom's for Thanksgiving. Will have lots of downtime and not much to do because out in the country. So I'm going ahead and ordering 15 ft of 3.5mm vacuum line in case I make some measuring mistakes. Thoughts on that? Or could it be something different? Like I said, I don't usually drive my car very hard, but that's the first time I've ever gotten a 30FE was ripping it (sudden throttle depression, I usually slowly lay into the throttle). Appreciate it! |
