N54 strange noise?
Hello,
Three months ago i bought my 2009 e92 335i xDrive. About a month ago the car started going into a limp mode after 4.5 rpm. The code was for "overboost". My mechanic changed both diverter valves and the issue was fixed... untill two days ago. I drove the car very hard on the highway and the car went into a limp mode again. Yesterday I went for a drive and noticed a strange noise coming from the right side of the engine. When the engine is warm the noise is quieter, but here is a video of it after a cold start: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/5vt2PwAXqk8 Should I be worried about the sound that comes behind the right front wheel in the video? The car has 261234 km on the dash and it was serviced at 260500 km. I am new to these kind of forums so I apologize if i have violated the forum rules. |

Hi, whats the error code?
The ticking you hear from the right side of the engine is the evap valve, conpletely normal, dont worry. You can open the oil filter and check for shaving in oil. Everything stock? Stock map? |

Hello, so today i went to scan the codes.
Those are the codes that the car has at the moment: https://ibb.co/2NFwcqS The car stopped going into limp mode by itself and also the sound that i was worried about went away. However the code for the gearbox is new. The earliest my mechanic can see the car would be in January so would it hurt the gearbox if I drive the car for a month or two with the code? It doesn't have any symptoms of a gearbox failure. The car is full stock Last edited by ykm3; 12-06-2024 at 10:50 AM.. |
