DAYUM! $8,000 off AND 0% interest? I guess when Subie FUBAR'd the styling the sales really took a dive! The sedan with the big wing I could handle, but the "hot hatch"? Not nearly as much. My friend had one a few years ago and we teased him merciliously about his "shopping cart" (how it looks with the rear wing.) But this thing doesn't have much going for it in the style department in my eyes.

Hasn't the STI received bad marks in road tests compared to the EVO. I thought they soften up the car too much for its market.

That IS an 08 though.
As far as I know, there are still a shit load of 08 WRX and STis out there sitting in the dealers lot. They didn't do too well with the 08s. |

I drove one a few weeks ago and it felt like a dog compare to my jb3 335i. It was fun but too small.

The motors don't do well at the track though. I had an '04 with no problems, but I know of three friends that have had motors let go at the track (2 were 05s and one was an 08). Mine could eat a qt. in a day at the track so about 2hrs on track. Not terrible, just something you had to concern yourself with.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just be happy with the decision you made. Shoot, seeing how (relatively) cheap earlier E46 M3s are now, sometimes I wish I saved some money and got an M3 instead. But, the thing is, you just can't beat the overall practicality/luxury/performance combo of the 335i.
The STi is a great car and performs well, but it just isn't as versatile. Not to mention the 335i just has more "wow" factor. Overall, I would see the 335i as a car you would actually want to hold on to, while the STi might get tiresome as a DD. EDIT: Oops, I see you have a 328. I still stand by my statement though, the 328 is still a great performing car and is a MUCH better DD than an STi. I would be happy with it!

Friend works at a suby dealership..They had a sti with around 3000 miles on it...i drove it for about 3 hours. Not as nice as the model b4.The power just doesnt seem the same. So i dont think you made the wrong choice.. i would take the model year b4 the new one let alone over a 328i no matter how much they took off. But not to knock the sti 2 much...It handles well and i like the looks even though most people dont like it as a hatch.

I was looking for an EVO IX RS but I couldn't find one in the area. I was never a fan of the 'pig nose' STi after they made the gears longer for 'fuel efficiency and driveability' and took away the cool aluminum suspension parts. '05 would have been my pick if i had to get a '04-'07 STi but i didn't want to deal with the $$$ of a used AWD/turbo car so i took a pass
