Home Link not working.
With 2 months of ownership of E92, I still can't make homelink memorize my garage doors!!!!!
I programmed homelink fine on other 4 vehicles in my house but they just don't get programmed into my car. I tried countless rolling / fixed code methods but no luck. Yes, I even read the damn manual to get this thing work too. Anyone have any idea? or does BMW homelink have to be worked with some tricks? I've tried conventional method of fixed code (or vice versa, i forgot), igition on - erase memories - push learn button on head unit of the garage door - push desired memory button in the car / for my fixed code head unit and easy point and press method for the rolling code... Any suggestions? |

Hi,
I had the same problem and i finally went to the homelink website. They have a very detailed manual for the BMW 3 series and following their instructions on how to place the remote very close to the rearview mirror it seems to be working now ! Hope it helps... |

Maybe your unit is defective, you can't really mess up the programming sequence and since you have done other vehicles I assume you know what you are doing.
Take it back to the dealer to have them check it out. |

There are a couple little quirks with the BMW Homelink system, depending on what type of garage opener you have. In most cases (as in most garage openers within the past decade), the opener uses rolling code technology, which means you have to have Homelink learn your remote before your garage opener can learn your Homelink.
To have your Homelink learn your remote, hold your remote right next to the rear view mirror so that they are touching. That bit about holding it 6 inches or a foot away in your manual is bogus. Stick them right next to each other. Then, press and hold the Homelink button you want to use, and then press and hold the remote button until the little light on the Homelink flashes rapidly. After that, you'll probably need another person to help. Have someone press the learn button on the garage opener, and then press and hold the Homelink button you just stored your remote to until the garage opener light blinks. The system should work then. Good luck!

1. Erase codes so you start fresh
2. Hold transmitter next to mirror and push both buttons (the one you want to open the door and the transmitter) until the led blinks rapidly 3. Hit the train button on your door opener 4. Push the button on the mirror that you've 'taught' to be a garage door opener 3 times (on the 3rd hit, your garage door will go up or down, so stand clear)

+1 on the homelink website. Different cars need to be programmes differently and the website spells it out for each car.

I spent 3 goddamn hours trying to get this thing to accept my remote. I finally gave up and got on here and saw that a lot of people recommend putting the remote really close to the mirror. I tried that and it finally worked! Just wanted to say thank you!!
