Strange Vibration

I've noticed recently that when i drive over 70mph (71mph upwards),I feel a vibration via the seat & steering wheel, upto 70mph is perfect.

All tyres are at correct pressure & rft's.
Could this be a tracking problem?? I've tried 'search',but can't find anything relating to this..
Any advise is very welcome..

possibly unbalanced wheels, but usually would feel it before 70mph...

That's what I thought, defo feel it before it hits 70.So wondering what could cause this problem?

I've got exactly the same problem in my 330D m sport. Mine happens only on acceleration and over 65-70 mph. As soon as you let off the power it is perfect. Local dealer says they have checked everything on the drive train and all is fine, they even had a tech from BMW Head office check it. He reckoned that some anti vibration dampers were missing from the exhaust. they're on now - no difference. It's spoiling an otherwise great car

Hi Steve. For me it makes no difference whether my foot's on the gas or not

Might be the fronts, but that would usually be felt through the steering wheel rather than the seat.

I'd guess that one of the alloys has lost a weight.

This, as has previously been said, is definitely a wheel balancing problem. You need to get all four wheels rebalanced to 0-0

This could be down to balancing of the rear wheels, but given that it happens on acceleration only, it is likely to be the front/rear toe angles and related thrust angle that is out. Worst case is it could be one of the rear subframe bushes need replacing...

I don't think it is alignment in my case as I had it aligned by a hunter machine with before and after printouts. I'm going to get my local trusted indy to have a look at the rear subframe bushes and report back

Check the wheel balancing first, before looking at the subframe bushes

Went to a tyre fitter today. Had all 4 wheels re-balanced 0-0. Job done,no more vibration.
So thank's again guy's for all your input..

cant believe that 90% of my vibration problems were down to something as simple as balancing - trusted my usual tyre fitter too much. seems like either he made a mistake or his machine hasn't been calibrated lately. Still got a little vibration, but it seems like I have a slight sawtooth edge on both rears due to some non hub centric spacers(more pronounced vibrations) I've now got rid of, so still some vibration until I change the tyres. Thanks to all who helped

Still got a little vibration, but it seems like I have a slight sawtooth edge on both rears due to some non hub centric spacers(more pronounced vibrations) I've now got rid of, so still some vibration until I change the tyres.
