JB+ vs sstt review
Terry sent me over a JB+ to try out a few days ago as I was very curious how it stacked up against my much loved sstt I had a while back. One word to sum up this tune that comes to mind is just plain old "fun". I turned up the boost to max because I have a pre 29.2 car and popped it in the car. Im familiar with it so install took about a minute.
It seemed like it adapted after 4 or 5 pulls on it. The power comes on quick and is a blast down low. The thing that separates this from the sstt is this tune pulls great up top too where the sstt let you down quite a bit. Also the power all around is a decent step up from the sstt. I would say jb2H without all the messing around with the ecu and the boost solenoid tubes. Its pretty much right where they said it would be..between jb2 and jb3.Part throttle yields some serious pull and is what makes it so fun.nice shove down low and great pull up top. For people with the sstt if I had my choice I would choose the JB+ because you get more power all around and its cool how it is upgradable. Its like a perfected version of the sstt or the infamous and apparently non existent sstt 2 that was rumored to come out a while back. Customers who do not want to enter the ecu area will love this tune. You buy it, simply put it on, and your car right away is a lot more powerful and fun to drive. You cant ask for much more from this type of tune. I think terry has a good product with this one.Its perfect for this niche in the n54 community. If your thinking about it, go for it. my .02.

I didnt get any limp codes with this either during the testing. The highest I saw on the boost gauge was 13. usually showing from 11 to 12. 13 was the highest peak I saw.

Since neither the SSTT nor the JB+ changes the fuel map shouldn't they provide the same performance throughout the rpms at a given level of boost?

By the sounds of it, the JB+ runs a ~1psi more boost than the SSTT. I'm guessing this is from making the IAT read higher. The extra boost explains the extra power. But it would also make it more diagnostically visible. This may not matter for some people. Those who do care about being invisible might have to settle for SSTT-like boost and power. I suspect this is one of the advantages of having it adjustable. You can choose your tune (up to a point of course) based upon your needs.

I,m wondering if the extra 1psi of boost would make it detectable to the dealer.I,m very happy with my SSTT and will keep it.It pulls off idle to the redline without any drop off in power like some people claim.I,m not knocking the JB+ at all as i think its fantastic from the reviews so far.And i know BMS makes quality performance parts that work.I have the BMS intake along with my SSTT.My first tune was a JB1 and i liked the nice little bump in power. So now i,m at the SSTT level and am enjoying it until, or if i decide i want some more oomph. But right now i,m happy with the Filter and TT.Also getting 19.5mpg local with very spirited driving most of the time.Spirited not abusive!

Those who are happy with the SSTT stick with the SSTT.. The JB+ is a tweaked SSTT and it's ease of use is to cut into the SSTT's market. The adjustable part was a HUGE draw-in for me. Especially now that there is a local autoshop with a GT1 scanner that can delete codes in the evendt anything happens or if I need to take the car into the dealer.. I am going to crank this mofo up!!!

I dont know why someone wouldnt just get a stage 3 tune lol even if youre going to run it on a low boost map
why put save a hundred or two and put something inferior on a 40k+ car

some people just don't want to deal with opening and closing the ECU everytime they have to go into the dealer. The JB+ takes me less than a minute to remove and install...

Glad you tried it out! It's a great entry level tune, or one for those worried about warranty work. You can have it on and off in a matter of minutes without going in the ECU and adjust the boost gains from 2-5psi in 1/2psi increments. For 29.2+ cars the "safe" setting is in the 2.5psi range, but you can always go to 3.5psi and risk it. Or go all the way to 5psi and locate a GT1 before service!

nice... I had the sstt as my first tune and then JB, then I upgraded to JB2HR or whatever they call it (the one with the R switch). I sold the JB2 because I didn't like constantly going back in and out of the ecu compartment so the JB+ would be a really nice for those with the same problem, however, when my warranty is over I will probably go back to the ECU compartment to unleash the n54's full potential.

Hey guys,
Im looking at getting a 09 335 E92 soon and was thinking about the SSTT. I have read a lot in the forum and am new to turbo cars but I think I would trade some performance for peace of mind. Ic an't seem to find exactly how much extra boost the SSTT is pushing? Im guessing it is 2.5 since that is the lower end of the JB3+? Is that correct? I have also read that the SSTT can not be detected by the stealership if you remove before service visits. That is also true, right? Lastly, anyone know if there is a shop in the NY Metro area (preferably LI) with a GT1 to clear any codes ![]() -Evangelo2 |

sstt is 3.5.
JB+ is adjustable from 2-5 psi, and half the price of sstt. Get the JB+ Quote:

Is there going to be a big difference between running the SSTT's 3.5 PSI and setting the JB+ to 2.5 PSI? Like I said earlier, I want to err on the side of caution (even though I may increase the boost with the JB+ later on). One more quick question, and this one is probably stupid. Where are you guys buying the JB+ from? -Evangelo2 |
