Charging fault
Just had this warning flash up in the car accompanied by the red battery warning in the cente of the dash - also cut out the power steering on my way in to a swiftish left hander (surprising how active this is - I nearly ended up in an oncoming car) and then the car steamed up as it had also shut down the air con....
Anyone else experienced this - have an ideas? Suspect it will be a visit to the stealer.... |

Thanks for the advice - checked it out this morning though and it is quite clearly down to the belt having come off the water pump (i think) and the alternator therefore not working.
Has had to suffer the ignominy of being flat bedded to the dealers...... |

Dealer seemed quite puzzled by it - asked if I'd hit anything in the road. I hadn't. He added that the undertray showed no sign of damage (so nothing had gone through it) and said it must have been that the pulley just fell apart. Apparently half the pulley was missing and there were some remains still attached - belt was intact but in a damaged state (presumably form coming off).
Manufacturing defect? Is only made of plastic apparently.... |

To be honest - even if it was just the belt I'd never get my fat fists in to the 3mm gap to get down there to put it back on anyway!
When I saw where it was there was no question of it not going straight to the dealer! |

I was thinking more of BMW assist changing the belt, if I had one. |
