325i (pre Efficient Dynamics) tappety

The sheps-mobile is falling apart; first my suspension, now this!

Does anyone else have experience with an intermittent noise that sounds like tappets going, or a symptom of low oil pressure.

Oil level is fine, and car was only serviced (oil chamged) curca 3k miles ago.

It has raised it's head a couple of times before, but disappeared within 30 seconds or so. This afternoon when I went out for lunch it lasted for probably two miles, and could still be clearly heard at 3k rpm (with the window down).

Any ideas?

Again, this will be something I raise with the dealer when it's on the ramps in a couple of weeks, but because it is intermittent it makes it very hard to describe and identify unless it's actually doing it.

Get the same thing when I do a lot of short journeys. It usually clears once the cars had a good run to get the engine up to normal running temperature and the oil circulated around the system. I try not to give it the beans while it's cold. Sure I've read a similar post on hear somewhere where a BMW tech. had told someone to "drive the car enthusiastically" to prevent this happening!

Hi Budgie! Long time no speak pal.
Are you coming to UK7? If so, do you want to meet up beforehand and convoy over?

Ha ha, I'm hijacking my own damn thread!
