Only if this was caused by your oil temps being close to 300F

Dealers are super picky about the retrofit...

Rix - have you seen my pic of my 300 degree oil temp???? I am already scheduled for a retrofit on 3.2.09 but I thought this might put the icing on the cake just in case BMWNA gave the dealer crap.

That should help for sure... I snapped a picture on my cellphone back before I got my retrofit almost 2 years ago.

The biggest problem is that some dealers will not perform the retrofit unless the car is overheating under "normal driving" conditions...(aka, not a track) if thats the case with your dealer, then you might have a hard time.

Best of luck!

LOL. People have different standards for "normal driving." Is it true that some dealers will want to see the limp mode on at the dealer??

This was two seperate occassions but when it reached 300 I was totally unaware and just driving home from my office, albeit aggressively. Then I looked down and went holy shit and took a few pics.

did they specifically say what the cam problem was or what caused it? could it have been the high temps (doubt it IMO)? just good to hear what they are finding these days...

glad to hear they are fixing you up though.

I am not 100% sure but the SA said he never heard of it before. I am going to find out exactly what it was when I go pick it up which could be tomorrow evening or Thursday sometime. I will let you know.

Probably needs to replace the cam shaft ledge...Had this issue in my car recently and I think that I am one of only a handful of people that have had this issue.

Hey Delta. I live near you. I just got a check engine recently due to a cam problem (specifically, VANOS solenoids- a week later still waiting on parts; maybe I should go up to your dealer . However, my car also doesn't have an oil cooler, and I'm fairly certain I'll need one. I'm having a tough time getting the retrofit fully covered by BMW NA though. Please check your PM's and contact me. Sounds like we have similar high-altitude issues.

Only if you just had an Oil Cooler as your first mod, you would have to deal with this
