~~~Nitto NT05 Review~~~
235/40/18 front 265/35/18 rear on stock type 162 rims.
I like these tires.
Five is best.
Noise 3
-- The noise made from these is acceptable and not an issue for me. With the stock run flats I did not hear noise, with these I do that it is not a large amount.
Comfort 4 -- coming from the stock run flats, these tires are certainly more comfortable going over bumps. Not a humongous difference but an improvement.
Appearance 5
-- the tread design is aggressive in appearance and has a definite track look to it.
Fitment on stock rims 5 -- they fit perfectly fine. The rear tires appear to fit the rims very nicely and now take up more of the wheel well since the diameter of the tire is a little bit larger than stock.
Turn in and steering response 4 -- a little bit less responsive than the stock run flats but close enough
Dry traction 5 -- a significant improvement over the stock run flat tires here. Lateral acceleration as measured with the Gtech Pro says that I have increased lateral grip for the given test that I do from 0.92 to 0.96g. While for some reason I don't seem to have improved 60 foot times with these tires, they do feel grippier and I spin the tires less in first and second gears.
Wet traction -- not tested yet.
Conclusion -- These are as close to drag/track tires as you can get while still using them as street tires, which I am doing. Good value. We'll see how long they last.
Paid 725 or so from Discount Tire Direct. Plus 84 install here. Still loving them!
These are great tires, I just got a set, however, they are easy to light up in cooler weather.
Sorry, but your conclusion "These are as close to drag/track tires as you can get while still using them as street tires" is completely unsubstantiated by your review.
Better then the RFT? Yes. The closest you can get? That's up for debate.
