Missfire in cylinder 5 after HPFP replacement?

Over the winter my 07 335 with ~25miles had the fuel pump fail on a 500 mile trip. Once I made it back home, limped the car into the dealer ship and had the HPFP replaced. All was well until I installed V3 again.
During a hard sprint, I hit the red line and got a limp mode, restarted and everything was fine. Once home, pulled the p0305 code and reset it, went out again to see if I could repeat it and yep another limp mode and the same code came up.
After some searching on here I found out that the spark plugs could be the culprit, replaced them and everything seemed fine. I even switched coils 5 and 6 to rule that out if the p0305 code came back.
After warming up the engine I did some hard runs to redline in second and no limp mode. I was happy.
So a few days ago I am doing a hard pull out of the corner and get another limp mode. This time I didn't come near the redline. When I got home the very same p0305 code came up. The car was better but not fixed.
Yesterday I am driving on the highway cruising at about 70-75 and decide, "Wonder what sort of mpg the car is getting with the latest V3 map?", well it averaged about 22-24mpg on relatively flat highway where I have seen as high as 30-32mpg in the past.

So, what do you think? Bad injector? Wonder how I should bring it back in if I am not able to repeat the problem with the V3 uninstalled?

Maybe someone has had the same experience?

I had the same thing, jsut had my hpfp replaced, and found out that my fuel sensor was bad too.

Completely stock except for the V3.

Best bet would be to remove the v3 and confirm that the fuel economy is still worse than stock. If it is, then you are still looking at something mechanical. Without more info, I'd guess fuel injector. That would make sense given the mpg and misfire.

I will do that. Thanks! I think the lower fuel economy will be a good reason to take it back in. I have a good service adviser, so hopefully he can help me get it resolved.

If I am losing 20% fuel economy, it would seem I would be losing a lot of power too.

I still have not had time to remove the procede, but did go by a friends shop and reset my adaptions and cleared all the stored codes.

Took a 15 mile drive on I77 this morning and averaged 29.7mpg. It all seems to be better now and no limp modes in over 2 weeks.


..hope it was all just a bad tank of gas or just a fluke.
