Do aftermarket tips affect exhaust note?
I was looking at getting larger tips, say the 3 or 3.5" variety for my 335i, and I was wondering if the tips would affect the sound at all??

I doubt it...maybe a little.
if your looking for a sound change you'll need to actually change something on the exhaust, ie remove cats or change mufflers....or change everything.

Adding larger tips ie...3.5" or 4" will increase your exhaust note a tad, but noticeable. Search Dimisa tips and you'll see. I realized you didn't changed anything internally, but the larger tips act like a megaphone effect. I have 4" on mine and it's very noticeable when driving.

Ya they will change the note a bit. I have the Dimisa tips which are resonated and my exhaust note is both more throaty and louder.
If you dont wanna go with a full exhaust and just basically want your car to be slightly louder, tips are the way to go! |

not the exhaust note, but the loudness!
since i have custom 90mm tips direct welded on my stock exhaust, it is much louder than befor with golf-tee mod. |
