The Longest JB+ Install!!! Many NOOB moves involved..
ok guys.. i was really happy when i got my JB+ in the mail yesterday night and decided i was going to install it today.. well as everyone has been saying, it should have been a quick install.. it definitely didn't turn out that way !!!!
So, I unplugged the battery and opened up the hood.. all good so far.. I located the sensor and tried to reach for it, but considering i had a stock air intake, it was kind of hard.. i tried to do it anyways.. First thing I did wrong: after trying to find the best way to squeeze my arms in there to take out the sensor, i lifted up the clip to pull it out and instead of pulling on the wires, i pulled on the part that is screwed to the base.. it would not budge, so i thought i was doing somthing wrong and just needed more space to manuver.. I then decided that i needed to take off the air intake box.. i spent some time trying to take it off correctly (my first time doing this and i'm pretty much a noob in doing anything mechanical with my car) and everything was going well until: Second thing i did wrong: i was unscrewing the metal coupler thing that holds the intake tubes together when... my screwdriver head fell into the undertray thing.. i was very mad... i didn't really know what to do.. so what i did was to jack up my car and try to unscrew everything i could underneath the car to try to open it up some how to get the screwdriver head out.. this took forever but i finally managed to squeeze my arm in and pull it out.. next i finished taking off the airbox and saw the sensor and realized how easy it is to install, if i did it right the first time.. i was pretty bummed after realizing i wasted about an hour taking the airbox off and trying to get that screwdriver head from the undertray when i didn't even need to do that in the first place.. so in the end, i installed the JB+ in about 30 seconds (once i had the air intake box off) and put everything back together... REVIEW: I then decided to test out this thing that took forever to install... so me and my girlfriend hopped in the car and went to a street where no one ever drives and did a couple full throttle runs (it was set at the default setting with about 1/2 tank of 93 octane gas).. it was impressive.. but not as impressive as i thought it would be.. maybe before it is adapted, it doesn't show much improvements.. hopefully tomorrow it'll be better, and by monday i should be very happy with it.. well thanks for listening to my horrible story.. and don't make any mistakes i made lol.. |

after i found a way to retrieve the screwdriver head from the under tray.. i just kind of squezed my hand in there and it took a while to loosen up because that area isn't large enough to put the screwdriver into the screw properly.. it was very aggrivating and annoying..

I am pretty sure they have 14days money back
Send a mail to the terry I installed jb+ week ago and It was not that impressive to me I am thinking to wait until jb3 1.3 come out but then I have msd81 version on my car. I am afraid of codes also. My plan for right now, I will be waiting for result of BT scan tool and then move to the jb3 in safty purposes. |

I guess no body knows how the result will turn out on BT scan tool
I was told by some member here that Erasing code will remove the codes but it could leave the trace that we actually get into the software and erase them. So I am waiting for the decent result from the member |

i do not know that much about the JB+ (i have JB3) but the reviews and results have been very good so far.
1/ maybe you need to racket up from the default setting? 2/ my JB3 takes about a full day and a half to fully adjust to different maps. give it a few days and some hard WOT pulls. my 2 cents

I also installed my jb+ today (default setting). For the first few WOTs I didn't feel much, but then something seemed to kick in after 5-7 minutes of driving. The torque increase was VERY impressive to me (and my friend) and quite frankly, it feels like a different car on acceleration.
It pulls and pulls in any gear like never before. For the first time I was thrown back into my seat with that torque *feeling* in the pit of my stomache. Results must really vary from car to car depending on the conditions because my power increases were clear.

In the future if you drop something into the engine bay, you should use a magnet. You can find the metal object with the magnet and move along the bottom of the car until you get it to an opening where you can reach your hand in. I used an opening near the front wheel.

yea that would have been a good idea.. i used a wire hanger to move it to the left side of the car near the wheel.. i definitely don't plan to drop anything else in there.. it was a PITA to get out...

dam... no worries man
my jb2 took about 4.5 hours and at end, i didnt even get it installed because the pins snapped off. Also the most noob thing that happened was i was in such a hurry to finish up getting her all squared back up to normal, i forgot about how the hvac filter has to snap into those snaps things..anyway took 30 mns just to get the hvac in. following week took me about 40 mins to install my jb2. so with time everything gets better. dont feel so bad lol
