Did My Clutch go out?
I was getting on the highway, and couple times today, accerating hard when getting on the ramp when I switched to third , and released the clutch it held my RPMs at like 6K then, like caught back up or whatnot this happen'd a couple times. I came home turned the car off a there was a weird burning smell... When I went back to start the car the clutch pedal was really low to the floor, and is now really short... Did my clutch peace out?

^ How long will it last?
Let me give you an example. I have a friend with a 2001 330 coupe. He just had his changed out at 145k miles. His brother (the BMW mechanic who changed it out for him) looked over the clutch and said that he still had life left in the old one. I've heard plenty of people easily pass 100k miles. Now, you have an N54-powered car, with quite a bit more torque. However, BMW has factored that in; it should last just as long as the typical e46 330ci's clutch, I'd say. Just don't ride the clutch!

UPDATE: They said they let it out with his toe, and its working fine... But they still think I need a clutch. The pedal came back and and he was able to change gears. If this is the case then could there be a Throw Bearing, or the Slave Cylinder catching causing it to stick, and could have accelerated the life span of the clutch?

It does sound like a clutch to me. Mine went out on my E36 at the drag strip. That was abuse-related for sure, and at 60k miles. It exhibited the exact symptoms that you mention.

Sounds like the clutch engagement is an issue but not the clutch disc itself.

It has 8K on it.
I've had two other manual cars up to around 100K on each (Mercury Cougar's), and two bikes, and never had a clutch go out on me(I can pretty much handle my own driving a stick)... I would expect the build quality of this clutch to be much higher. I mean I haven't changed the brake pads, nor the oil and my clutch is worn out...

So I'll take back my wise-ass comment. It really does sound like either the Master clutch cylinder or the slave cylinder. Did they bleed the system. It's hard to get a new clutch out of the dealer. Good luck.
