Thinking of removing my Dinan tune just so I can track the car without CEL/limp modes
What do you guys think? Less stress might allow me to actually track it...without pushing the envelope. Yes, no, maybe? Then if I get the codes..I can limp back to the dealership..and it can be said the issue is NOT due to the Dinan tune.

Do it!!! The car is fast enough with the stock bits IMHO.
Here's the deal. If I break 2:00 (with proof) at Infineon on Friday then take it out? That'll be a good trick if I can do that. |

Unless you're dying to keep it stock or Dinan, I would recommend an earlier version of the Procede.
If you can get the V2 (Version TWO, not the latest V3) hardware and harness, I can send you the map that has worked for me for the past 15 limp-less track days. You can probably get it on the forsale forum for dirt cheap. I asked around to see if V3 is track worthy, but no track users have responded. You can find my thread on the main FI forum. I am holding off on buying V3 right now, but I can tell you my specific V2 map has worked for me for 15 days. |

I am a firm believer that the moment you have major warranty work done, you car is toast. Once you "break the seal" on a factory engine (turbo replacement etc) new problems will surface.

It is not as simple as "Tune = limp".
Like I said, I had limps galore with previous versions of Procede (track only). I played around with an incarnate of V2 and I have had 15 track days without a single limp mode. And only 4 of those were with the upgraded oil cooler. Regardless, whenever my limps happened in the past, oil temps were definitely below 300 degrees. I REALLY would like to upgrade to V3 but am not confident that it is limp free on track. And Shiv doesn't appear to want to give me a money back guarantee. No way I'm buying an upgrade that might be useless to me. |

if you people have gotten limp mode while stock and you have not with this modified set of maps, what is the difference? by the way if it isn't high oil temps (or getting passed by a spec miata) what else can trigger 'limp mode'. |

No no, wasn't directed at anyone. was just trying to make a silly joke on 'limp mode' (colleagues are working on studies involving 'ED' (no not european delivery)) and some of the 'humor' must have rubbed off on me

I always take it on good humor. It was the spec Miata part of the statement. No spec Miatas. Ok, maybe a few
![]() BTW, what about the ED? My GF is incredibly ugly and I may need some of your information to keep the relationship going ![]() |

Coolant temp too high (hello slushbox) excessive ignition retard fuel pressure not plausible etc. etc. etc. FYI - can't say I've ever had limp when I'm stock. Oil temps don't change much, however. Yes, it's reliable, but damn it's sloooooow. |

seems like an easy decision to me. GET THAT 95 NA!! It's already setup for track days, and I bet it would be more fun than the e90. Don't get me wrong, the e90 is great (and fast), but it seems like you haven't had the best of luck with yours, and track days are no fun when your car breaks or has problems. Plus, you can keep the dinan tune for the street and still enjoy the car.
If you don't get the miata, I'd remove the dinan tune. you seem to be plenty fast without it, and if it means the car is more reliable on track days, then it's a no-brainer imo. |

Do you think the cel issues are related to oil temps?
I've said it before, but I've had issues with my wastegates sticking open and that has resulted in a CEL. If your wastegates are also sticking then it wouldn't matter if you have a tune or not.
