At what point do you fill up on gas?

So when do you guys fill up on gas? I used to fill up when it was just under 3/4 down. Do you guys fill up when the lights and gongs come on or when ever you guys feel like it?

Half to 1/4. Never past 1/4. Which reminds me, I need gas...

Usually 5 miles or less since there is always a gas station within 1 mile of where I work or where I live.

Sometime before it's empty.

It's not a critical issue, unless fuel stations are far apart where you live.

Usually around 1/4 of tank left. But there are times when I'm paying as much attention as I should, or get too busy, and let the light off for a few miles. I'm really trying to train the new habit to fill it up before 1/4 though, more around 1/2.

During the winter I keep it at least half full at all times. This is both for the extra weight in the back for traction and to handle any weather related emergencies.

The rest of the time I usually let it get down to a quarter tank before filling up.

probably not a big deal but your fuel pump will work harder the lower the fuel level. Think about when you have a full tank of fuel the pressure of the fuel will help the pump do its work.

I've ran it all the way to 0, there has to be a reserve of a gallon or two.
