Throwing codes at Lower rpms with either software but not stock.
I seem to be getting limp mode, and Service Engine Soon lights (Cyl 3 misfire most of the time, but I've had Cyl 5, 6, and 1 as well) for my 07 335i.
Full throttle at about 2000rpm, by the time I get to 4000rpm it will throw a code. Sometimes it takes one or two times to make it go off, but it happens. I also get some higher RPM breakup, and my Procede logging seemed to tell me it's pulling timing. A few times it's done it after I'm done going through the gears and I'm off the throttle already. It is getting worse as the temps get warmer around here. I only get this when my car is running some software. (JB3 or Procede I have both). For the last few days I've been running the car stock and can't get one light. I beat the living crap out of it trying to, but no luck, so I can't really take it to the dealer because stock it runs fine. ![]() I'm gonna rule out the software for now, and borrow another version of a Procede just to make sure, but at this point, I'm kinda out of ideas. I can't figure it out, any ideas? X... |

how many miles ?? if over 25K or so... new plugs might not hurt since tuned... if it's the same cylinder after that.... or primarily the same... then maybe swap the coils around and see if the cylinder number changes too |

You could have a boost leak if the leak isn't bad until it hits +10psi.

Yeah, might just get some, but would rather have the dealer pay for them. Quote:

Update. I replaced the plugs and it seems to have solved the problem!! I need to push the car a little bit harder to really test things out, but so far it looks like it works
I actually changed the plugs with the car in stock form, and even without any software I could tell a difference. The car idled much smoother upon initial startup, and really seemed silky smooth throught he rev. range. My car has just under 35,000 miles on it. Thanks for the help guys!!! I can get back to enjoying my car to the fullest! X... |

Cool...if my car exhibits these problems, I will first change the plugs and then take it from there...It seems as though changing out the plugs seems to be the solution for most of limp modes that show cylinder misfires! Thanks for the update

I wonder if there are better plugs to use that the default one that BMW uses.

Yes deff sounds like the plugs. I had the exact same problem. If I boosted over stock I would missfire then throw a code for cyl 1. Changed the plug for cyl 1 and it went away and I can run the race map perfectly. So change plugs and then put the procede bad in and it will most likely solve ur problem.

So are you saying that on a completely stock turbo car, there would be no need to change plugs every 30k? Or will you still have to since it's turbo and most likely to cause problems?
I'm just wondering how I managed 100k on my other non-turbo car without ever changing the plugs (or at least I don't think I ever had them changed unless the dealer did them w/o me knowing) |

Update: the good lasted less than a month, and back to throwing codes, even stock. They are replacing the intake pressure sensor and some VANOS exhaust component, I'll see on the invoice exactly what it is.

Are you saying that you have a STOCK car and use JB3 or procede sometimes and you have the above kind of problems? No other mods, like aftermarket exhaust etc...?
