When to re-map a new BMW Diesel?

Is there a general guideline for when a new car can be re-mapped?

In particular, i'm thinking of my E90 330d which will be delivered early July.
I've searched the forum and found a couple of comments suggesting after the 1st service, but i just wanted to get a definitive idea.

Also, has anybody already re-mapped a E90 330d LCI?
Any info on results and who you used would be appreciated.

Apologies for not ing better, as I'm sure the info's on here!

I generally wait until I'd done around 1k before getting a remap.

It will give you some appreciation of the MPG savings that can be had, the extra power is of course an added bonus .

I can't see any benefit in waiting until the first service, think of all the fuel you could of saved!

The only thing I'd add is make sure the engine has been serviced recently, with at least new oil & filter. In your case after the first service.

You don't want to be adding 10-15% extra power on old oil.

I had my 320d ED re-mapped by Evolve at 4 weeks old and 1250 miles on the clock.

They refused to rolling road the car until 2000 miles so went back at 5000 miles and it did 209 BHP.

However I was advised that it should free up a bit more maybe 3-10bhp.

My only advice is if you cant rolling road before a re-map how can you tell how much increase the re-map has given.

Overall though I still ran the car in gently and had sympathy for this process, I would never be able to wait until first service which is showing at 22k.

My MPG is excellent at between 51mpg to 64mpg on average.

Think my 335d had around 3.5k on the clock which my re-mapper said was more than enough as the engine had 'settled down'. He wasn't an advocate of doing a remap on a new engine.

Don't know about anyone else, but I've found since owning German marques that at around 12k the engines 'slacken' a bit more as if they're really run in - bloody excellent!

Everything for anything? Normally derogatory, hence the 'jest'.

It wasn't edited for Carl's Grammar (don't get me started, I'd need more than a sweatshirt), just ///ajd having a wee jest with Carl, by changing Carl's original statement from "run in" to "run into the ground".

Alcook are you a teacher with a grey beard and elbow pads on your cardigan?

Still baffled by the 'four word story' ref. to grammar tbh. Unless it was Will's faux pas?
