Anyone else here own a e30 M3?
I just purchased a very nice 1988 e30 M3. My 335i is quicker and much more refined. However, the M3 is much more fun drive to drive. You can test the limits of the M3 and not go to jail. Testing the limits of a 335i on the street? Yeah right.

I was looking for an e30 M3 for about six months. 107k miles. Two prior Oregon owners. I paid $22k for it. The condition is amazing with new leather on the front seats. It is stock except for the plus one BBS wheels(original wheels which are restored with good tires were included), Hartge stainless steel exhaust system and an alacantara steering wheel from the euro evo model. Paint is all original except for right front fender which was sprayed following a minor accident(seller had photos of the damage). It drove much better than an example with lower miles(69k) that I considered.
These cars are getting difficult to find and most of them for sale are trashed out to a certain extent. |

Did I hear that someone has the hots for a e36 M3? Someone has a Lightweight Edition e36 M3 on EBAY with 41 miles on it. That was not a misprint: forty one miles!!! He wants a hell of a lot of money for it but the car is in effect still brand new.

I wonder what's different if anything between a US specced E30 M3 and it's European cousin. I drove one many moons ago and it's an experience that has always stuck in my mind as being one of the best balanced cars in terms of handling versus power I have ever driven, including the latest M3. It's steering was one thing that really stood out as being special.
I hear BMW are looking to return to next M3 to all that was great about the E30 which will be a very good thing indeed. BTW it's a lovely example and health to enjoy. ![]() |

Yes. Had mine since 1997. Amazing car, always puts a smile on my face. Not the fastest by todays standards, but amazingly agile in the corners, so well balanced and satisfying to drive. Truely ahead of its time!

i understand if you are a car fanatic and wanted to get the e30 m as collectible item, but I don't see the appeal here really. It is an old car and even though it looks good for it time, now it doesn't look good compare to the newer one e46/e9x m, no warranty, not safe, no power, etc
Some may say it is more raw and a blast to drive, that simply because most cars back in the day were build like that. Lighter, less sound deadening, etc. Even an old civic hatch is a blast to drive if you mod it right. But between e30 and e36, e30 hands down cause I think the e36 is the ugliest m. |
