Fuel Efficiency BMW 335i MSport Auto
Hi guys, I have a 2007 335i MSport Auto (pre efficiency dynamics model).
Have any other 335i (auto) owners noticed a change (increase) in fuel efficiency (MPG) when driving in semi-auto (paddles/direct shift)? I found the efficieny is significantly improved when driven in direct shift with a increase of between 4-5 extra MPG around town. Whilst I accept buying a £42k car I shouldn't worry about fuel efficieny, I am intrigued if anyone has had the same experience. |

I haven't got a 335i Auto but i have noticed when i drive using the paddle i get a slightly better fuel economy.
I went to Wales drving for the day a couple of weeks ago and used the paddles 100% of the time and my fuel economy went up! I wasn't driving slow either plenty of overtaking! ![]() I love using the paddles plus it keeps both hands on the wheel! |

I've got the same model/year as you and will have a try next week driving with the paddles on a regular long journey of mine and see what happens.
Funnily enough, after replacing all four tyres my MPG (as per the OBC) has dropped by at least 10%, I assume it must be something to do with the difference in rolling radius between new and old tyres messing with the readings. Used to get indicated 40MPG at 70 average. Now don't! Cheers Ben |

Ben[/QUOTE] Hi Ben, Removing 7 millimeters from your tread depth i.e new vs. old tyres will affect the circumference of your wheels by less than 2% i.e wheels with old tyres will rotate 100 times whereas new tyres rotate only 98 times to cover the same distance. |
