Question NEWBIE--> Some iPhone 3G questions

Hi I just got a iPhone 3G and I want to hook it up to my 2008 e92 (it has idrive but no 6FL). I am not looking to do the bluetooth retrofit but I want to listen to the mp3s that I have in my iPhone. What's the best way(s) of doing this w/o spending a lot of $? TIA

Cheap aux cable from your iPhone to the aux in in the center console.

I use the aux cable, and the quality isn't too bad. However, you won't see the songs on either the iDrive display, or (for you non-iDrivers), the regular radio display.

Relatedly, I have an iPhone and an iPod -- I use the iPod exclusively in the car. To me, the headphone/aux jack on the iPhone is on the "wrong" end -- being on the top of the phone, if I have the iPhone oriented where I can glace down and look at the display, the cord is doubled back over the phone. With my iPod, the jack is on the bottom, and I have no such issue. Just my $.02.

Trust me when I tell you that if it aint easy you wont do it. Hooking your phone up to a cable and then jacking w/ your iphone when you want to listen to it aint easy.

I retrofitted bluetooth and ipod and i LOVE it. So easy. I actually wait to get in my car to make calls. Hands free and voice recognition = awesome.
