2.0d 177 Turbo issue

Ok, this was in the missus' 5, but still relevent

She was driving down a dual carridgeway on Thurs in very heavy rain. Car lost power and "Engine Fault, Reduced Power" flashed up. She managed to get home in limp mode (40mph max).

Dealer fixed yesterday and stated - "Found fault related to turbo charger. Repalced Faulty linkage"

Can anybody shed more light on what failed?

Car is only 1.5 years old with 11k miles so really surprised with such a failure

Cheers.

As it references a linkage, I'd be tempted to suggest it was an issue with the turbo wastegate. If it was sticking, the ECU would either be getting boost pressure it didnt expect, or no boost pressure when it did expect it.
