LCI Halogen HIDs?
I know I know, people should not put an HID kit on halogen headlamps because of it blinds the other drives.
now that we got pass that, anyone here have pics of their LCI halogens with an HID kit? Please post if you do, or a pre LCI halogen with an HID kit. Thanks |

hey Pal,
To install HID kit in either pre or LCI halogen system is not a problem. the biggest challenge is to get rid of the damn error. I am very interested in buying such product out there if it exists you know we both got the same kind of headlights. I've just bought some white color PIAA H7 bulbs for the low beam at least it will do for now.

It is probably easier for you to go and buy one and then report here as to the issues and possibly I can help.
As to a solution, here's one: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=267714 GL |

yeah, I read and learn about the footwell module and in fact, I knew someone locally did it and it was working. Jermey if you are reading this post please tell us how you did it. I know its painful and costly but at the end, you get the prize.

I dont see why the HID kit will not work on the halogen bulbs? its a simple swap of the bulb with the kit and turn on lights.
I also think I can live with the error, from what I understand the error comes up when you turn the car on and then it disapears... I guess I will find out when I install the kit. |

the beam pattern is acceptable, the RED color service error shows up in the display. but not only that, what really make you mad is it "DING" every few minute as you drive the car. This DING DING DING noise will drive you crazy.

Its really pointless to put HID's into non-projector headlights unless you have no consideration for others on the road. Come to cali, drive the freeways here and you will get a pretty good impression of how Ghetto it is. Im sorry for bursting your bubble but give it some serious thought. Might as well invest a bit extra for Real projectors.

thanks for sharing your idea. Real BMW projectors are pricy, not a bit extra, we are talking about big $$$.

My friend just put HIDs on his LCI Halogen. They look great with no errors but...now the sunroof and interior lights do not work lol. I don't think it came with the error cancelers/resistors so he is going to add them soon but he doesn't know where to buy them. But no error codes and no flickering or shutting off, just the problems that I mentioned.

How are the rear windows working? When they flashed my DME for NIC issues the receipt specifically states that they initialized the rear windows and sunroof. That might be the problem with those. About the interior lights, are all the fuses okay? |

Sorry Dude, if you put in OEM xenon in a non-xenon car, we are talking about non AHL, you will get error,
Forget AHL, it will never work. many people have problem with error. I was one of the victum too. your choice to get rid of the error is either: buy footwell modeule, or play around with capacitors if you are an electronics expert or buy parachute kit or similiar error correction modules its a painful process but can be done. if your OEM ballast burn out, it cost you $200 to replace. I had mine replaced last month. just think about some of these BS you have to go through, does it worth your time?

I was messing around with a few setups for my halogen headlights and they all suck. Nothing compares to the Xenon/w angle eyes look. So in the end I said fuck it and bought the xenon headlight kit from E90 Andy( and it's error free). Spend some extra cash and get something that looks damn good because the halogens on the E90 suck.

+1, you are right, BMW should make all E90 c/w xenon, forget halogen, many of us with halogen are screwed.
I guess the time and $$ we spent in upgrading to xenon cost the same as if we were to buy a car equipped with xenon. how come E92 and E93 are all xenon ready?
