Poorboy`s Nattys Paste Wax - Blue

Hi guys and gals,

this seems to be a relatively cheap option that I can (relatively) easily get locally... is it any good? I'd be applying it on a BMW E90 LCI Le Mans Blue... or would the white version be more appropriate?

It is also quite affordable (3x as expensive as Turtle was, but 1/3 price of Dodo Juice), so if its at least reasonably good (=better than Turtle Wax) I'm tempted to give it a try.

Also, slightly OT, but will 80g of Sonus Green Clay be enough for a whole car?

Thanks,

I love natty blues wax. Works nicely on dark cars. Apply thin layers and you are good to go .

80 g's is approximately 1 clay bar will sufficient unless your car is really contaminated.

Cheers,
Nick

Natty's Blue is a very nice wax. It's leaves dark colored vehicles with nice depth and a dripping wet look. It's durabilty is lacking, but overall a nice buy.

Ok, well another alternative would be Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0 or Meguiar's Hi Tech Yellow... which one is the best?

Stick w/ the Nattys ........... you will NOT get the same results with either of the Meguiars products you listed.

Another vote for Nattys, it's a really good wax for the money. Unless you're stepping up to Dodo Juice or another higher-end wax, stick with the Nattys.

I will have to disagree about Meguiar's #26 Hi Tech. It's very underrated. Easy on and easy off, very nice warm deep gloss. The only draw back is it last less than a month.

The key to a good finish isn't the LSP but the paint prep

I've been using Natty's blue since the start of 09, and I love it! For the price, it's an extremely good value. Here's a detailed write-up/review of how to apply it

+1 on the Natty's Blue. A very nice wax for dark colors, and inexpensive.

Im using it on my jet black 335. Shines great but durability (3-4 weeks) is an issue. Im probably going to use Zaino again.

Hm, well durability seems to be an issue...

One last option I can get locally is Pinnacle Signature Series II... is this any good? Better than Natty's Blue?

Thanks.

I'll share more props for the Natty Blue. In regards to the durability, no carnauba wax is going to last too long, so keep that in mind. Most detailers would recommend putting a long-lasting sealant down first (Zaino, Jetseal, Klasse, etc etc) and then putting the wax on top. The Natty goes on and comes off easily, too.

Here's a sample pic, straight from the camera except my tiny watermark. No post-processing to the exposure or color. It's Natty Blue over Jetseal

Is Jetseal a good sealant to use in addition to Natty Blue? I wasn't planning on sealing, just waxing, but I think I've changed my mind.

PS -I have a Sapphire Black e90

I use M-seal and get good results but its all about prep, and make sure you put it on really thin even with the jetseal. also let it cure for 24 hours before applying another coat or waxing. you can give the car a mild wash after sealant before wax to get the dust off. i used m-seal my last detail and have been adding layers of nattys for about 4 months now and the car looks great.

Anyone have any input on a decent budget (<$30) wax for Space Grey? I am freshly Opti-Sealed up, but am thinking about adding some wax.

Would Natty's blue or red work well? I wouldn't consider space grey a dark color, and all the Natty love seems to point to "great for dark colors."

Personally, I love the look of opti-seal on gray and silver metallic colors. I would just add another layer of opti-seal. You can also use Optimum Car wax during regular washes and your paint will stay protected and looking good for a very long time.

Am I the only one that doesn't really like nattys blue? I find removal of it is way more difficult than with other nubas...

It is more difficult to remove, definitely. Applying it thin makes a difference though. When I use NB, my removal MF is very slightly damp with QD. Makes removal a bit easier. Results are still fantastic for a $20 wax though.

I'm hooked on the Dodo Purple Haze right now, absolutely love it. Looking to try some Supernatural this summer too.

Natty's Red is also a real PITA to remove as well too. Looks good, but man-too much effort. That's even with thin coats!
