sirius SUCKS!!!
I just found out that I had sirius radio
ok so I was playing with my radio while I was wating in the school parking lot for my sister to come out and I click on SAT san it says "please call sirius to activate your radio" and I was like I did not know that I he sirius install I was thinking that I had only preparation. but I saw a radio ID and I was like so I call them and I active my radio. and I have to say FM sounds better the sound quality sucks!! is like a AM radio. I had a portable XM and is the shit how come the ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE have the worst SAT radio ever BMW should have XM not sirius. well I have my portable XM so I can listen to both radios. one piece of advice, if you don't have SAT on your car don't get it IT SUCKS. save your money!!!! |

Calvino...just to be sure, did you play around with the sound settings on sat radio mode. Every audio source mode, radio, sat radio, aux, CD ... have their own settings (i.e. bass, treble, balance...EQ settings on your L7) etc. You might want to check on that, it might help with the sound quality.
As for sat radio content I, too prefer XM....

Dude your nuts, period. Sirius is by far superior to that junk on XM. XM has the stations jumbled all over the place like a monkey fvcking a football. Not that either could really be better or worse since they have basically the same technology.
By the looks of what you like to listen to I would suggest; Sirius Hits 1 (1), The 90's (9), Jock something? (28), Area 33 (33), Hip Hop Nation (40), Shade 45 (45) and Hot Jams (50). Howard is in the 70's or 80's I think? I'm never in the car at that time to listen anyways.

well if Sirius is superior than XM, why XM is the #1 Sat radio and have more than twice subscribers than Sirius ??? and XM is far more advance than Sirius, Sirius have not yet release a porable SAT radio and XM have one more than a year ago. also XM have more terriestials repeters than sirius so it have better coverage, |

I love my xm! I too feel the Serius sound quality is inferior to xm's.
The only thing that sucks is the infomercials they started playing.

Sirius sound quality is quite poor
I have to agree that the sound quality is only slightly better than a strong AM station (albeit in 2 channels) and no where near as good as a strong FM station. I signed up for Sirius because I was interested in the music channels, but I can't listen to the music because the poor sound quality really bugs me--I listen to music through my iPod instead. However, I do listen to a lot of news on Sirius--I love getting CNN and NPR, so I'm not completely dissatisfied with Sirius.
I read in some earlier posts on this forum that the poor sound quality is a result of the limited bandwidth that Sirius allocates to the individual stations. This gives me hope that Sirius could increase it's broadcasting capabilites and improve it's bandwidth in the future (hopefully before my lease is up in three years!).

Sirius' satellites are more of an updated technology since they went up later than XM's. The only reason Sirius hasn't produced a portable sat radio is because the quality on it sucks even more than you think the quality in your car sucks. Why would you want to produce something that doesn't work correctly? Only to get on the market faster to get a lead. Sounds more like a Microsoft mentality ie. the XBOX 360. On the market a year ahead of the PS3, yet has had many many issues. The PS3 is coming out with more power standard and better graphics and will likely have fewer bugs because they took their time and produced a quality product the first time around. Not once have I gotten a in a bad coverage area that wouldn't affect XM's radio's either. I drove my old car with Sirius all over the eastern coast and not once experienced issues in even Manhatten. This argument could go in circles all day long. When in the end the companies will be better off merging to fend off any future competitors.

I too wished BMW owners had a choice to have XM or Sirius in their factory stereos. I believe you have an option with Audi, Lexus and Infiniti. I personally love the XM programming better than XM; however, my parents love the Sirius programming.
As far as why is XM #1 over Sirius. I can remember XM advertising back in 2000-01. It has been 5 years or so. If sirius was better, then I think a one year head start would not prevent them from taking the #1 spot. But I have noticed that XM has started playing more infommercials on stations like "Mix". I hope someone from BMW who can make changes pushes to give consumers a choice in which brand of radio they want in their car like other carmakers. Capitalism is about competition and the ability to choose, right? |

XM has Baseball
XM has Baseball
the only bad thing about XM is the reggae station is . We have the XM portable for the cars, and look like we will added it to our BMW. I wish we could choose between XM or Sirius. Looks like we will pass on the Sirius hook-up. Cafe, Flight 26, the Blend, the Loft, Lucy, Starbucks are all good listens on XM |
