09 doesn't have fuel pump problem?
I had my car serviced today and my SA told me that the 09 models do not have the fuel problem anymore...
is this true? I was actually surprised at the attitude of my SA. i had heard mixed to bad results about my local dealer (BOB Smith BMW MINI) but he was very chill. He himself had his 335i with aftermarket intake/exhaust etc. He said that as long that specific part does not cause the problem, then I am good to go. That made me smile and feel relieved. |

09s have this issue as well
and dont feel relieved..he told you what every dealer will tell you before you have a large cost claim. If you mess with the ECU, or you mess with the pressure level (ie..FMIC or DPs)...they can blame any engine issue on that part. So...do yourself a favor, and remember the good motto "less is more"..keep your mouth shut

Exactly as everyone has said, the 09 fuel pump is not special and is prone to failure. Also as others have pointed out, the SA is just telling you what you want to hear.

I had read about the 09s having problems which is why I was unsure of what he said
I didnt start talking to him about mods cause after i asked what he drove (335i) he started talking about how great it is/how much he loves it (normal stuff you know?) and about how much better it is after he put intake/exhaust on it he even gave me the location of a few shops that could install whatever i wanted he said that if the boast is increase (i.e. a chip...) he thinks its not good blah blah blah that was no surprise. bascially telling me if i chip the car he's not gonna care... but the fact that i dont have to worry too much about intake/exhaust makes me smile |

from my experience, most dealers dont care about an intake, or a basic bolt on exhaust...but if you start toying with the downpipes and fmic..both items that will start to mess with the pressure going through your engine...dont count on them to do you any favors

even if the dealer wanted to give one crap cause of an intake, by CA law, they have to specifically prove that that one part is the cause of X problems
you also have every authority to have a 3rd party prove that your aftermarket part (i.e. intake/exhausted whatever) cause the problem bmw does state in their warranty however (if i remember correctly) and increasing the boast is an automatic no-no... so i guess if they do give me shit cause of an intake/exhaust and whatnot... i can take it up to the courts.. don't think that I'd wanna do that though |

+21983219 where did you hear that ?? part numbers ? anything ??? I only doubt it cause well... I've been through this "there's a new part number, new pumps out... it's fixed... etc.." way back in late 2007 / early 08
