i got a new set of winter tires and wheels and figured it would be easy to change them. I was just checking it out to see if I had a jack and socket wrench in the trunk.. and I guess not given these are run flats. I got some non run flats for winter but am ok with that.

Question is does anyone recommend a socket kit for wheel swapping and floor jack? I plan on changing the wheels myself but if its a hassel, will just bring it to a decent shop.

any suggestions recommended. figured if I can do it myself I can change them out this weekend.. ride around with the winters and the new rims for the wheel to see how they are and put the OEM's back.

I would like to know too, alot of the Sears jacks have bad reviews

I'd like one too. Keep having to use the one from the 750i when I switch wheels on the E90.

you need a low profile jack, my regular one doesnt fit. also any socket kit will do, i buy craftsman because of the warranty. put some electrical tape around the socket so it doesnt scratch.

it's a 17mm 6-pont for the lugs. Trisher (sp?) sells a torque wrench with socket built into it just for doing wheels. Unsure of cost.

Sears has a cheap low profile floor jack, like $60 I believe. It's not one of the nice light aluminum ones but it does the job.

i use to take my winter sets to Tom Lyons and let them swap them for $6/wheel, but since they recently F'things up with my wheels....i'm going to look for another place or DIY
