Just curious to see what you guys are expecting/hoping to see in future turbo related products for the N54. Maybe we could make a list and if there is enough intrest a company such as AMS or Boost Logic will pick up on it and begin developing products for our cars if they aren't already. I know AMS and a few other companys are producing upgraded twins but I personally would like to see a single turbo manifold with a medium-sized billet turbo, external wastegate with seperate dump tube (aka screamer pipe) and non-reduced exhaust piping from the turbine to the muffler.
![]() What do you guys think? Sure it would be slightly laggy, maybe full spool by 3000-3500 rpm, but high rpm power would be phenomenal! ![]() Also I don't see why controlling the wastegate with a boost controller either standalone or intergrated with the JB3 would be so hard. Also about the fuel issue, if we can run 18psi with stock turbos why would we need to upgrade the injectors/fuel pump to run 18psi with a larger turbo? I know the cfm will be greater on the larger turbo but as long as we have a target A/F ratio and our pressure sensor is working I don't see why it wouldn't work. Any info would be greatly appreciated. |

Because my understanding is more air is being pushed into the cylinders at 18PSI with a bigger turbo. Your A/F ratio only matters inside the cylinders. And if more air is getting in there, even more fuel is needed to maintain stoic. Someone correct me if i'm wrong here.

Boostlogic and other companies won't do anything for this vehicle until someone comes up with a solution to the fuel issue and a method for putting a bigger snail on. It'll be years before they touch this car. AMS is one of the few being proactive about this engine when it comes to attempting to put a single on.

whoever does come up with with a fuel system upgrade will make a killing. they can sell it for a high mark up and people will pay.

A GT35R kit for the N54 would be awesome!
I hope they figure out the fuel problem. Maybe after my warranty is up in 4 years a turbo kit will be out.

HTA = quicker spooling and more power than regular 35r, doesnt get better than that!!! OR maybe a new Precision 6262.....also a very good turbo Borg Warner has recently stepped up their game too I hear.

Yep, a few turbo upgrade kits out there. They also have 3 different aftermarket fuel pumps. I think Audi came out with a revised fuel pump too.

Think Andrew from AR design has a single turbo.

+1
New headers off the shelf single turbo (35r would be nice...) ball bearing all connections (water and oil) shorty intake DPs, 2-part with swappable end piece that can adapt to sock exhaust I'm not worried about the fuel system. If we can support 550 whp with stock fuel system + meth (like ASR), then that's plenty. -scheherazade |

+1 I spent quite a bit of time looking under my hood last week. It appears that using a liquid to air intercooler would make life easier. It would allow shorter charge pipes (better throttle response) and a less restrictive intake design (air intake could be routed to the lower front left of the bumper as you look at the car). With regards to the fuel system, with such a high CR, I think methanol should be mandatory for anything over 400whp. |
