Tyre Pressure Warnings
3 days running, i've had the tyre pressure warning come up.
First time i took it to a garage and they found that some crazy fool at quik-fit had put 42 in my front left! (i was getting nitro done) but no problems otherwise. 2nd time i just reset it now its happened again on my way to work. I've checked the tyres and there is no obvious leak or deflation. I know they are RFT's but i'm guessing with the weight of the car it would be clear to see if there was a puncture. Anybody else had a faulty sensor or this issue with barely legal tyres? |

I would check all your tyre pressures.
Make sure they are inflated to the correct pressures and then reset the tyre pressure monitor. If it happens again, check all tyres and find out if one is down. If one is then inflate and get yourself to a garage and have the tyre checked for punctures. This happend to me. The monitor works of the ABS sensor to detect a change in rolling radius and not a pressure loss btw. |

None of the tyres look or feel down. Confused.com I realise it worse off ABS, could it be that hitting a pothole is causing an issue. I ask because there is a narrow country road i come along and you have to drive through potholes to avoid hitting the car coming the other way. An RFT with ZERO psi in looks exactly like one with 35psi in. The sidewalls just don't move at all!! Like skid says, get all your pressures right then reset the system and see what happens then. |

Mine came on when one of my fronts was down to below 20 psi due to a puncture. Couldn't tell visually and there was no difference in the feel of the car (moderately pushing it).

So the tyre senor's effectively part of the ABS system?
I just had a new valve put on my passenger side rear at Kwik Fit yesterday - they told me I needed to go to BMW otherwise it would cause the tyre pressure sensor to malfunction, however, I've not had any problems today. We're Kwik Fit talking b*ll*cks? |

BUT if kwik fit changed a regular rubber valve for another regular rubber valve then you must have the ABS TPMS system, and yes KF are then talking shite. |

Sounds like you have a slow puncture. if it is a result of hitting a pothole you should get the alignment checked. Take a deep breath though it ain't cheap to get the full BMW KDS alignment check. If you leave it though you run the risk of the new tyres wearing prematurely.

It's a system designed for BMW requiremnts and is a fantastically accurate piece of kit.
If you've ever seen a results printout for a KDS then you'll know how much and how accurately it checks the car. http://www.pro-align.co.uk/products/...mwaligners.htm Pricey, but worth it after a knock IMO. I had it done after i clobbered a speed bump at about 50mph when it was 2 weeks old!. All 4 wheels were out of factory tolerance, one front by about 2 degrees. Also the front wheels must have deformed slightly (minute amount) as they were noticeably out of balance too and needed re-balancing on a tyre machine. They charged me £300 for a 1/2 hour damage inspection (2 minutes more like) and KDS. I got this done so the car has a clean slate for warranty purposes and they have confirmed NO DAMAGE in writing. |

Just check a few sites and an 07 is'nt listed! Had a TPS warning but it has pressure in around 34psi on all wheels so took it to an independant. They sent me packing as they only have rubber valves. I tried ATS and they were the same. As it happens theres part of the screw thread snapped off proably due to corrosion and they gave me a coupler to extend the valve so I could get an accurate reading as air was just passing previously. I reset the TPS and no more warnings but struggling to source a valve unless from the stealer! Anyone came across this? |

Bit off topic, who can recommend a very good KDS garage around London or surrounding counties?
