Will this hurt my runflats?

Hey guys,
I've been reading all the complaints about how easy it is to damage ("cup") these runflats, and I was concerned. My neighbor used to have this gigantic tree whose roots pushed up one of the cement slabs that make up my driveway. So now my driveway has a 2 inch vertical rise in it.
Will driving over this everyday cause the runflats to "cup" or whatever they do?
I'll post pics of the driveway tomorrow if you guys wanna see it.

No. Cupping comes from extended uneven rubber wear of the tires. It's not a deformation in the rubber itself.

ok so its not cupping, but will it damage the run flats in the same way that running over a pot hole does?

dude, it's not like you're speeding into your driveway at 60mph, I'm assuming you slowly roll into your driveway, which would be fine for your tire

You can only hope that you can find an excuse to get rid of those tires

I just went to the shop with cupping at 6400 miles on the OEM bridgestones. Service Manager said he'd probably replace them after doing an alignment check, but I'll find out for sure tomorrow when I pick up my car.

He also said the continental runflats are a lot cheaper and quieter, and don't have the wear issues of the OEM bridgestones. They may be my next set.

Yeah, the continental runflats are good. Just had mine replaced and they are much quieter and feel more smooth...not as choppy of a ride with OEM bridgstones....cheap too! Got all 4 for $700 at Goodyear + labor.

Where in N.J. did you get the Continental RFT's? I'm assuming they are mounted on 162's.

Thanks!

The tree might not be there but if you do not remove the root, you still have the problem. Roots are not going to shrink (especially one that are big enough to take on concrete). If you want a smooth driveway again, you need to repave your driveway (make neighboor split the bill since it is his/her tree).
